LOL Keith, I just heard on the radio there are 60 million mobile phones in the UK and the population is 60 million. I think they counted wrong, by one! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifFinal weather update (unless something exciting happens): We are STILL in the dry slot between the two rainbands and it SHOULD stay dry all evening, a slight possibility of a shower that's all. Grass will be wet from the earlier rain. Breezy but nothing too much and winds getting lighter during the evening. Also, bit warmer than last year but I'm still taking my coat, just in case!

If you want that I call you, so send a SMS with your name and mobile phone number to me. See you tomorrow and have a nice journey to London. Hello again Lothar! Like Keith, I don't own a mobile, but you'll probably find a small group of us together near the entrance. I don't have a royal blue sweatshirt, but I'll be wearing a light blue anorak and a big smile! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIt's raining in London at the moment, but hopefully it should clear up by this evening. See you later, Richard

I live 23 miles south of Hampton Court and it is raining here now but the forecast on Southern Counties Radio says it will improve by lunch time with only a possibility of the occasional light shower this evening. At least that is consitent with what Dave has said so we may be lucky. BTW. I don't have a mobile either. If you ask me, they're a phoney business! See ya later! Roger

Suddenly it's all over and I find myself back home again. We need not have worried too much about the weather. It was a little blustery but as least it didn't rain. Hayley was wonderful, of course. She opened the second half with four songs, the first of which absolutely blew me away and the second blew me even further. A little later she and Jose Carreras sang a well-known duet from 'Phantom'. I'm going to keep you in suspense as to what they all were because I'm sure my HWI colleagues would like to say a few words. Lothar will be on a flight back to Berlin in a few hours' time. The rest of them are probably still on the road and I am on a high! More news to follow! Roger

Morning all, Got home at about half one-ish, got the last train out of Kings Cross at 0106. I'll just say a few quick things now as it is pretty late. - Hayley was fantastic last night. I wasn't expecting her to sing "May it Be" and definetely not the "Phantom Duet". The seats were far better than i expected too. Worth every penny that i spent on the night. - Jose Carreras was as good as i remembered from the last time i saw him live in late 2003, also with Hayley as a special guest on the night. - Hampton Court was a nice setting for it but much of the food and drink on sale was pretty shabby i thought. Not that the quality was sub standard as i wouldn't know but more the choice available and the fact i had to opt for something i wouldn't normally go for. It couldv'e been worse and not even one drop of moisture of a dark cloud when comapred to the rest of the night. I hope you all enjoyed the night too and your travel arrangements went as planned, i suppsoe that particularly goes for Lothar but everyone else too. EDIT: I have a small clip of the "Phantom Duet" recorded on my camera, only sound ant the quality is variable but good enough. Talk to you later thanks Nick W,

I'm home too - I can't wait to hear that Phantom clip Nick, their duet was excellent and we had it twice, did we not? Just to add, Hayley started the second half of the concert - with a stunning acapella performance of Pokarekare Ana. Some Jose Carreras fans near me hadn't heard Hayley before and were completely blown away by her performance. It was magical. Hayley (or was it Steve?) later told us that Pokarekare Ana had been inserted into the programme only 20 minutes before Hayley sang it - because she had a throat and chest infection (but you'd never have guessed!!!). And the orchestra hadn't rehearsed it so they just sat there, with arms folded. What an amazing sight! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifWell that's all from me for now, I know others will soon fill in more of the details - there's lots more - suffice it to say it was an excellent performance by Jose, he was certainly on form last night - and they both got standing ovations at the end, we got four encores!

Hi Guys,
What a night, Hayley and Jose.......
I hope everyone got home ok and are recovered this morning. Although it will take a while to get over that performance. The performance of 'Pokarekare Ana' and 'Phantom Duet' were amazing and even more so considering Hayley's sore throat.
Just a quick message before I fly home later. I hope some of the pictures and footage I took came out, so I will check when I get home and hope to post it up in the next few days. Talk to all soon.
Emmett

Hello again everybody! It was a fabulous night last night, and it was great meeting you all. I thought Hayley was even better than ever in spite of her bad chest, and I'm sure we all hope she feels better soon. I was home just before 1am, but I didn't sleep very well because I was still so excited! I wasn't worried that I couldn't dream about Hayley because I was thinking about her all night instead! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI won't say any more about the concert here because I've just emailed a review to Keith and Simon. See you all again soon, Richard

What an amazing sight! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAs to the clip, well once it's uploaded i'm sure you'll find it of interest. Technically it is a video as my Digi Cam has that option but i rarely focused directly on the stage so not to be rude, after a hile i settled on having either the lense face the sky or my thumb over it, and just made sure the mic was in the open. Literally only one or two second of decent foottage. I haven't got manyu stil pictures at all really for the same reason, i sort of take that whole "flash photography" distracting those on stage quite seriously i guess. I had no idea that Hayley had some kind of sore thraot of cold., but then why would i i suppose, it wasn't noticeable to me on the night. Some other singers or musicians might've used such a thing as an excuse to have a night off or at least an easier one. All the more credit to Hayley. How many times must Hayley have sung Pokarekare Ana in the past few years alone? I wonder if she gets tired of it? Understandable. I never noticed that it wasn't scripted so to speak, Hayley always sings it to such a high quality. There was a moment during Pokarekare Ana when Hayley was singing it sounded like.....well you know when you're listening to a CD and it mumps. Anybody else hear that? Was it a glitch with the equipment? Maybe i imagined it. Hayley didn't just sound beautiful last night but looked it too. thanks Nick W,

Hi Natasha,
I see Lothar has already answered your question about which Phantom song was sung last night but I thought I'd say hello anyway!
You may have seen by now that the reviews have not yet appeared on HWI but, hopefully, they will do soon. I submitted mine this afternoon and I know at least one other was sent in too.
Keep watching and the whole story will be revealed. You will think you had been there. There may even be a picture of all seven of us! I bet you can't wait for that. LOL.
Take care, Roger

Hi folks, especially Natasha - you will be very interested in a couple of the things I'm about to mention! But I'm not the world's best reviewer and it takes me ages to finish them, so I'll leave that to the experts like Roger, for a while anyway. So I'll just do a quick summary of what we learned (and can say) at Hampton Court. Some of it is from the programme notes and some came directly from Steve or Hayley. - The album title is Odyssey - Hayley has recorded duets for Odyssey with Bryn Terfel and Andrea Bocelli (we don't know which songs). - Enya's "May it Be" and Caccini's "Ave Maria" are definitely on the album. - Different album versions will again be issued in different countries, to try and meet the local charts requirements. - It's a bit of a struggle making Odyssey eligible for the UK classical chart - Hayley and Steve definitely want it in but the charts committee are being fussy about some of the songs. - (programme notes) Wiegenlied (which we already knew would be on the album) was NOT written by Mozart! It was incorrectly attributed to him for many years but in 1896 it was proved to be the work of Bernhard Flies - a contemporary of Mozart about which very little is known. It's now relegated to an Appendix of the Mozart catalogue. - (programme notes) "Her [Hayley's] busy concert performance schedule runs through to late 2006 including her soon to be announced starring debut run in a high profile West End [London] musical." No more can be said about that. - (programme notes) ...[Hayley] recently returned from a UNICEF field trip to Ghana, where she made a film to highlight her own campaign initiative "Strong Women for Strong Women" - which kind of answers Nick's question in another thread - but Hayley is just one of several well known people supporting that; Bikes for Ghana seems to be mainly Hayley. Oh well, that's all I can remember for now so I'll stop - is there any more, fellow concert-goers?
