Here is the beginning of the lyrics of “Profumo di Limone”. Again first Italian, then English. Not quite sure if it’s 100% correct though, but it gives a first idea.

Administrators: If I wanted to contribute a poem, where do I put it? Continuing to add to my “welcome” file seems odd, but adding it to a general chat thread seems like drowning a poem. Please advise.

Thank you for the lyrics, Italian is a beautiful language!

I thought "Paese" meant "Country", as it is very similar to the Portuguese word "País" (Country in English).

Good observation. In fact, as Susieverity pointed out, "Paese" can mean both country and village. If you want to say "country" you use a capital P (Paese), if you want to say "village" you'd use a small p (paese). We'd have to peek on Hayley's song-sheet to see what is written there...

"Country" however doesn't make too much sense: in central Italy where I live no lemons are around, no such scent unfortunately. The image of "profumo di limone" calls to mind a village in Southern Italy, probably Sicily (as most of Italy's lemons come from there), where the scent of lemon hangs in the air. It's a beautiful image: the magic scent of lemon in the village as you are walking on the road, it conveys a feeling of a hot day, when the scent is strong, very Mediterranean. And Hayley sings the atmosphere very sweetly (from what I hear from the first seconds).

Hayley might have experienced some of that magic Sicilian scent herself. In an article I read: "She first met Morricone four years ago when she was invited to Sicily to meet him..." Who knows, maybe she will even smell it again, if Andrea Bocelli invites her to Sicily for his concert in the Fall...

Once the "Profumo Di Limone" is uploaded somewhere, I will try to write down the complete lyrics.

This lyric is her version. It might have been changed subtly for Hayley though!

Hi everyone!

Very excited about the fact that Hayley sings a song in French in her new album, I made some research to know who wrote the song and actually discovered who is the lyricist of "Per Natale (L'esprit de Noël)".

I managed to contact her, we exchanged a few mails, firstly because I wanted to be sure it was her! She told me that it was her indeed and then I asked her if she could give me the lyrics of the song, what she kindly did and which I'm going to post below

But first of all, I have to say that Elsa, you did an excellent job!! You'll see that apart from little things, Elsa heard it right!

I also asked the lyricist to tell me a little bit more about the collaboration, what she thought about it, etc. and she actually told me that she never met Ennio nor Hayley.
She is not only a lyricist: she sings or does a one-woman-show currently in Paris. But as a lyricist, she is signed on Universal, just like Hayley.
Several lyricists within Universal were asked to write a song about Christmas spirit. She was interested, she received the music and wrote the lyrics for the song.
Eventually, among all the people who wrote lyrics for Hayley's album and sent them to Ennio, it is hers that he chose.

So here are the lyrics followed by a translation (I made a new one, not because I don't trust Elsa's!! Quite frankly, I haven't looked at it... But because tomorrow I have a translation exam at university so it was my opportunity to have a last minute training hahah I'm sure many sentences will be the same as in Elsa's translation
