It actually wasn't that hard, but that's because I'm studying sight singing right now, and I have to know the solfegge syllables. The hard part is singing that fast.
I still reckon it is Love will find as with my "Kiwi" ears I hear an i and also a d at the end. I now think the first verses has smile but the last verse has start. I also think the word is sigh and not sound.
I have changed my mind (again lol) I also now hear Love will fall Love will fall on us all.
Good observation. In fact, as Susieverity pointed out, "Paese" can mean both country and village. If you want to say "country" you use a capital P (Paese), if you want to say "village" you'd use a small p (paese). We'd have to peek on Hayley's song-sheet to see what is written there...
"Country" however doesn't make too much sense: in central Italy where I live no lemons are around, no such scent unfortunately. The image of "profumo di limone" calls to mind a village in Southern Italy, probably Sicily (as most of Italy's lemons come from there), where the scent of lemon hangs in the air. It's a beautiful image: the magic scent of lemon in the village as you are walking on the road, it conveys a feeling of a hot day, when the scent is strong, very Mediterranean. And Hayley sings the atmosphere very sweetly (from what I hear from the first seconds).
Hayley might have experienced some of that magic Sicilian scent herself. In an article I read: "She first met Morricone four years ago when she was invited to Sicily to meet him..." Who knows, maybe she will even smell it again, if Andrea Bocelli invites her to Sicily for his concert in the Fall...
Once the "Profumo Di Limone" is uploaded somewhere, I will try to write down the complete lyrics.
Obrigado! (the only word my poor head remembers from my visits to Portugal), happy
This song was originally a theme (Deborah's Theme) from the film "Once Upon a Time in America". The Song "I knew I Loved You" has previously been recorded by Celine Dion. This lyric is her version. It might have been changed subtly for Hayley though!
I knew I loved you Before I knew you The hands of time Would lead me to you An evening star Was from afar It guided me here It knew you'd be here Now wrapped in moonlight At last together Here in the incandescent glow We are all we need to know As we softly please each other 'Til the stars and shadow glow And we sleep With our dreams around us. Oooohhhh ahhh Ooohhhh oh yeahhh It guided me It knew you'd be here I knew I loved you Before I found you I knew I'd built my world around you Now all my days And all my nights And my tomorrows Will all begin And end With you... With you...
As far as I can tell, the lyrics are the same excepts for those I've highlighted in red which are excluded by Hayley.

Very excited about the fact that Hayley sings a song in French in her new album, I made some research to know who wrote the song and actually discovered who is the lyricist of "Per Natale (L'esprit de Noël)".
I managed to contact her, we exchanged a few mails, firstly because I wanted to be sure it was her! She told me that it was her indeed and then I asked her if she could give me the lyrics of the song, what she kindly did and which I'm going to post below
But first of all, I have to say that Elsa, you did an excellent job!! You'll see that apart from little things, Elsa heard it right!
I also asked the lyricist to tell me a little bit more about the collaboration, what she thought about it, etc. and she actually told me that she never met Ennio nor Hayley. She is not only a lyricist: she sings or does a one-woman-show currently in Paris. But as a lyricist, she is signed on Universal, just like Hayley. Several lyricists within Universal were asked to write a song about Christmas spirit. She was interested, she received the music and wrote the lyrics for the song. Eventually, among all the people who wrote lyrics for Hayley's album and sent them to Ennio, it is hers that he chose.
So here are the lyrics followed by a translation (I made a new one, not because I don't trust Elsa's!! Quite frankly, I haven't looked at it... But because tomorrow I have a translation exam at university so it was my opportunity to have a last minute training hahah I'm sure many sentences will be the same as in Elsa's translation
Deep in the night I looked up to the sky And tonight I felt A more solemn emotion
Even if it is very cold outside There is this beautiful setting Which adds warmth in our smiles and in our hearts
Joy has arranged a meeting With the hope inside of us And I know that somewhere angels are watching over us
On this magical night Snow and stars Have magical glints There is no more harm
On this beautiful winter night The moon and fir trees Give a sweet light And so everything is fine
Unique moment of magic In boundless goodness In which angels remember To stroke us with their wings
From twilight till dawn They light up the way Love in the palm of our hands To go just a little further
To relight a sparkle There is the spirit of Christmas To make life more beautiful There is the spirit of Christmas For an everlasting love There is the spirit of Christmas
