Hi Juilette, Thanks for the information, straight from the horse's mouth. If you feel the need to do some translating, I would love to have an interlinear translation of ALL of Edith Piaf 's songs.

I have a hard time understanding what she's singing in the high parts, but the words "the people would not cry" doesn't seem to fit with what I hear. At least it doesn't sound like Hayley is saying that many words.
And I hear "our fears" not "their".
I never heard the "across the land" part; I thought she was still saying "all has come to pass". I'll have to listen again.
When some of us get our Japanese versions, hopefully we'll know once and for all about all of them - just not the translations, though.

Well, we can hope they include the lyrics Libby. I would buy the Japanese version just for that. But I want to support the UK release too, so I'm stalling for now on Japan.

Well, leave the lyrics to me, then. I'm the lyrics person you know. That's one of my "Hayley jobs".
All of the Japanese releases I own do have her lyrics, so I would be very surprised if this one didn't have any.

Here is another starter for ten... another of Hayleys beautiful lyrics. Malena Kissed by sunrise night made for man. winter moonglow breath made of light. give me water, give me rainfall. for I can't wash away the thoughts of you around me and all I dream is that your heart would beat with mine it's like the stars that shine, on sweet love. till the end I will stand by your side.
Winter moonlight Your eyes meet mine caught the starglow, left me behind give me water give me rainfall for I can't wash away the thoughts of you around me and all I wish is that your heart would beat with mine it's like the stars that shine, on sweet love. till the end I will stand by your side.Corrections and ? replacements welcome. "caught the starglow" could be "autumn starglow". Can't quite decide.

I thought "Paese" meant "Country", as it is very similar to the Portuguese word "País" (Country in English). Best wishes, Paulo Correia And "pays" in French of course. Martin D Hi Martin, Yes, "Pays" is even more similar to "País" than "Paese". Best wishes, Paulo Correia

Olá Paulo, Good observation. In fact, as Susieverity pointed out, "Paese" can mean both country and village. If you want to say "country" you use a capital P ( Paese), if you want to say "village" you'd use a small p ( paese). We'd have to peek on Hayley's song-sheet to see what is written there... "Country" however doesn't make too much sense: in central Italy where I live no lemons are around, no such scent unfortunately. The image of "profumo di limone" calls to mind a village in Southern Italy, probably Sicily (as most of Italy's lemons come from there), where the scent of lemon hangs in the air. It's a beautiful image: the magic scent of lemon in the village as you are walking on the road, it conveys a feeling of a hot day, when the scent is strong, very Mediterranean. And Hayley sings the atmosphere very sweetly (from what I hear from the first seconds). Hayley might have experienced some of that magic Sicilian scent herself. In an article I read: "She first met Morricone four years ago when she was invited to Sicily to meet him..." Who knows, maybe she will even smell it again, if Andrea Bocelli invites her to Sicily for his concert in the Fall... Once the "Profumo Di Limone" is uploaded somewhere, I will try to write down the complete lyrics. Obrigado! (the only word my poor head remembers from my visits to Portugal), happy Ciao Happy, Thank you very much for the clarification. It's very curious, how the first letter in the same word, written in lowercase or uppercase means different things. In Portuguese, the word "Obrigado" (Thank you) is very curious too, if you are a man you say "Obrigad o", but if you are a woman you should say "Obrigad a". Grazie. Greetings from Portugal, Paulo Correia

Hi everyone,
I can now confirm that in Hayley's version of "Amália Por Amor" the Portuguese lyrics are the same as Dulce Pontes's version.
P.S. I truly admire Hayley for singing this very difficult song, in a language that I believe is difficult to English speaking people (singing is even more difficult), and the end result is very good!
Best wishes, Paulo Correia

Haha! You're lucky because I'm on holiday now so I have time and a little bit of practice will do me good... I'll try to give you some translations, however I don't know all of Edith Piaf's songs, so I can't promise you all of her songs... But, I'll start with those I know, and as for the rest, it will complete my knowledge of Edith Piaf's music! Lots of love, Juliette x

Listening again....hope to solve...or find out... ' Greetz Joyce Hi Martin and Joyce, I've listened to the songs carefully and here are my thoughts: I agree with Joyce, it seems to be eyes made for mine as well as skin of moonglow... breath made of light: I couldn't catch the last word but it really seems to be beginning with a [w] sound... it's like the stars that shine, on sweet love: in this part, it seems to be finishing with the word glow rather than 'love'. Winter moonlight: I hear ' In the moonlight' Your eyes meet mine: I think it's rather 'your eyes missed mine'. We can clearly hear the sound
But as English is not my native language, it's harder to be sure that what I hear is correct...
What are everyone else's thoughts about the lyrics for this song?
Lots of love, Juliette x

Well, Joyce could well be right about "eyes made for mine" but not sure.
I think it is definitely "your eyes meet mine" though.
And Joyce and Juliette, sometimes non native speakers can pick things up better than we who have preconceived ideas of what are sensible phrases.
For me, all I want to do is to understand the lyric of this beautiful song.

Here's my attempt on Cinema Paradiso ~ Would He Even Know Me NowI wonder would he even know me now We were so young and it was long ago Or will the memories rush back all at once with ... I wonder if he'll even know my name Or must I remind him of those days He used to love me then, he may still love me now I wonder if this music takes him back To when our world was … as green Lost in the darkness we'd go where only our hearts ...
