Well, I had a very enjoyable afternoon at Chessington Methodist Church yesterday. Got to hear Siobhan for the first time live and had the pleasure of meeting her afterwards - she is certainly a very talented young lady. We are very fortunate to be able to hear her perform in Britain, she lives in Australia of course, and thanks are due to Johnh for organising the concert and providing the venue. I have a few photos from the concert. Martin D

Yes. And we have to remember that it was a one girl show. She sang all the songs solo and played all the instruments. And it was magical. That takes real talent.

No, I didn't get any videos. I would only have done that if I had been able to meet her before the concert and ask her if she minded. I was right in the front row a few feet from her, so she would be sure to have noticed and I didn't want to risk upsetting her. She is a lovely, but rather shy girl I feel.
She did actually do something that not many singers in my experience manage. She sang two songs in succession that I consider that Hayley recorded the definitive versions of. "Prayer" and "May it Be". Now, usually I groan inwardly whenever someone else tries to cover a song that Hayley has recorded and that I have heard her perform live. Usually the only thing most singers prove is that they are not as good at singing that song as Hayley, and that makes me feel embarassed for even thinking that.
But it wasn't like that with Siobhan. Her arrangements for both songs were very similar to Hayley's, if you substitute harp for piano, but somehow Siobhan put her own stamp on them and made the songs her own, so that despite musically being very similar, they has a different and perhaps simpler and purer feel than Hayley's versions. So in the end I enjoyed them just as much. I think that is a testament to Siobhan's talent.
And I suppose compared to the likes of Hayley her songs are necessarily stripped down. She can't afford backing musicians and complex arrangements, these is just Siobhan, on her own, doing everything. So her arrangements have to be simpler, yet they work and work well.
Another highlight was "Walking in the Air", another song that Hayley has recorded of course, but Siobhan sang it in Japanese.
Several of her songs were in Welsh of course. There was the beautiful " A Ei Di'r Deryn Du" a song with alternate lines sung in Welsh and English. And you have to understand both languages I think to understand the song, since the English is not a translation of the Welsh, but a continuation of the lyric.
Her finale was her goat counting song "Cyfri’r Geifr" which is a bit of a humorous song about goats of some unlikely colours like red and blue, a tongue-twister Siobhan called it, which gets faster as it progresses. I remember learning that song a school from my Welsh music teacher, and I don't think I have heard it since! Siobhan's performance was delightful.

Thanks John,
Nice steady picture with good sound, not ever "easy" to do even when you do have permission, even more difficult with a concealed or unobtrusive camera position. Good on ye..

Hi everyone!
I've just checked out a few videos of Siobhan, she is very talented. Much like Hayley, she has performed at a young age which is impressive. I also love her harp playing, and the simplicity of just a voice and a harp in most of her performances. It's something I wish Hayley did more, like when she accompanies herself with the piano. Looking forward to hearing more from this girl
