Some of you on the chat last night may have heard me mention her, but for those who didn't, Siobhan Owen is a 14 year old soprano from Adelaide in Australia. I really like her voice and album tracklist: 01 - Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Land of My Fathers - Welsh) 02 - Suo Gan (Lullaby - Welsh) 03 - My Lagan Love (Ireland) 04 - A Lullaby (Ireland) 05 - Skye Boat Song (Scotland) 06 - My Love is Like a Red Red Rose (Scotland) 07 - Amazing Grace (England) 08 - Siuil a Run (Walk My Love - Irish Gaelic) 09 - She Moved Through the Fair (Ireland) 10 - My Little Welsh Home (Wales) 11 - The Ash Grove (Wales) 12 - Danny Boy (Ireland) 13 - Lilium (Lily - Latin) To hear Siobhan, check out youtube or siobhanowen.comI think she will go far!

Thank you all so much for your kind welcome and lovely comments about Siobhan on the Welcome forum I will certainly keep you informed about Siobhan's performances. I am hoping to video her singing "Ave Maria" on Sunday. I don't know how it will turn out because there will be around 7000 people there (although most of them will be processing from the other end of the Parkland with Siobhan's voice coming over loudspeakers). We will try to get close to the stage! Sheila in Australia Siobhan Owen - www.siobhanowen.com or www.myspace.com/siobhanowen

Hi all! I just thought I'd give you some more information about Siobhan. 14 year old Siobhan was born in Wales (same as Charlotte!) to a Welsh father and Irish mother - so she has definitely inherited the Celtic music bug! She moved to Australia when she was 2. Siobhan started singing in choirs aged 7, with her first public solo at age 9. She receives classical voice training and sings both classical and Celtic music. She is also in the St Francis Xavier Cathedral Choir in Adelaide, where she is on a Choral Scholarship. This means she often performs solo at the Solemn Masses. This coming Sunday, Siobhan will be singing "Ave Maria" (Schubert version in Latin) at the "Marian Procession" in Adelaide. They are expecting between 5000 and 7000 people there. On June 4th Siobhan will be giving her 2nd solo Recital in Adelaide for Recitals Australia. She has already been booked for a third for next season! This is a great honour for such a young vocalist (most of the invited soloists are from the Conservatorium of Music at Adelaide University where Siobhan wants to go when she leaves school in 2011!). Siobhan regularly receives invitations to sing at concerts, cabarets, weddings, funerals and Celtic Festivals. To read more about Siobhan, hear samples of her singing or see videos of her performances, visit to her website: www.siobhanowen.com or www.myspace.com/siobhanowen

Siobhan sang "Ave Maria" at a procession in Adelaide last Sunday. It went really well with lots of excellent feedback. She has been asked to do it again next year. To view her singing on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8xWlz5ILUgIt would be good if you could rate the video and leave a comment. Sheila I fixed the YouTube link. Richard

Thanks for posting the video, Sheila! I found the link didn't work properly, but I fixed it by removing the full stop at the end of the url. Siobhan certainly gave a magnificent performance of 'Ave Maria', and I'm sure she will have a successful singing career. Best Wishes, Richard

Mirusia is also following Siobhan's musical progress. She put the following comment on her MySpace site ( www.myspace.com/siobhanowen): "Hi There! I just listened and watched your Ave Maria - very nice - well done! You have a wonderful career ahead of you! M. x" She is such a lovely young lady, and a good judge of vocal talent! Sheila

A video of Siobhan aged 12 has been uploaded to YouTube. It shows a very nervous Siobhan singing "My Lagan Love" at the 2006 Catholic Schools Festival in Adelaide to a crowd of about 2,500. Even though she's nervous, she still sang beautifully. She had a mature voice even at 12! www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuQzyjc-CSQ
