By then, the Last rose of summer will have faded and gone. Martin Hi Martin, Last year, I had roses blooming much later than that. The weather/seasons ain't what they used to be! This one certainly will 'have faded and gone': But, if one of her 'lovely companions' is blooming then ... I'll bring it with me in November ... to Northampton. See you there? Paddy

Hi everyone. I clicked quickly through and don't think the following has been previously posted ... Oh yes it has, says Richard! and better presented too! Anyway, the purpose of the post was to assure Nicola she was quite right to share a moment of someone else's enchantment with Hayley. I will now turn this post into another related subject. Who has imported into the UK and what was their source, please? I had a feeling there was a nursery in Reading where I shall be this Saturday--no I haven't got my dates mixed up its for someone else's performance and I can't pin down the nursery And how are you getting on with them? Will there be at least some buttonholes this year? Peter S.

Hello again Peter, I've just noticed your edit! The address in Reading is HERE, but note it should be Loddon Bridge Road, not London Bridge Road. It was over two years ago, so things may have changed in that time. Your earlier post HERE might also be helpful. The rose is also known as 'Rachel' and can be purchased from Apuldram Roses HERE. Jon, Isn't that from a U S Viet Nam war protest song from the sixties? I think it was by Pete Seeger in about 1967 or 68. Larry Really? I thought it was traditional and much earlier than that and a French song that Marlene Dietrich used to sing.

Jon, Isn't that from a U S Viet Nam war protest song from the sixties? I think it was by Pete Seeger in about 1967 or 68. Larry Oh, Wikipedia confirms it was "a folk song of the 1960s written by Pete Seeger and Joe Hickerson." It also says: "It was first performed by Marlene Dietrich in French (as "Qui peut dire où vont les fleurs?") in 1962 at a UNICEF concert." So my memory isn't completely bad either.
