Hi John, Botany Bay is usually performed or recorded in this kind of style: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlSYl-r4Y_Y when it isn't being warbled out by well meaning (but out of tune) primary school children -- and that includes me when I was at school :rollin I remember actually being taught 'Botany Bay' and the meaning behind it when I was doing Australian history at school. Wow, fascinating. I have to say I find Mirusia's lyric the more familiar. But Andre Rieu can turn anything into a waltz! A revelation as you say Jillian.

Hi all! I had a great night last night seeing Andre Rieu perform in Brisbane. It was the first time I've seen Andre Rieu and I had a fantastic time! What fun!    Mirusia has joined him as a soloist. She performed 3 solo songs (as well as joining in several group pieces throughout the concert). They were: - Don't Cry For Me Argentina
- Botany Bay
- I am Australian
My favourite song of the whole night was Mirusia's performance of 'I am Australian' - a famous Australian song. Anyone who is a fan of The Seekers may be familiar with this song. Thanks Jillian. Looks like it was a wonderful night. I didn't know "I Am an Australian" but in enjoyed that performance.

Thanks Jillian. "I am Australian" is one of my favourite songs even though I'm not Australian  . My Dad is a huge fan of the Seekers, who I believe wrote the song,- I'm not 100% certain of that though,- and so I've heard the song many times on car journeys, I think Mirusia sings it very well, a great version. I love the song Botany Bay too. |

Hi all, I have tickets to see the Seekers in Brisbane in December i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Gee Judith Durham can sing! Randomly, Mirusia sang at a charity concert this evening and stepped out in a dress almost identical to Hayley's coral/orange dress.    Even though the beading on the straps is extremely similar, I'm pretty sure it's a different dress. Hayley's is tied up as a halter neck, whereas it looks like Mirusia's dress has full straps. This is also the first time I've seen this dress on Mirusia and Hayley was wearing hers back in 2008. Cheers, Jillian |

Hi Richard! Mirusia later tweeted that she purchased it from Max Dietl Couture in Munich. I gather that Max Dietl is a store that specialises in high end designer fashion. If it's a designer dress, it's definitely a possibility that it may be a slightly modified re-issue of the same dress as Hayley's by the same designer. I'd tweet Mirusia to ask her who the specific designer is, but I don't want to rub in the fact that her specially purchased designer dress for the red carpet is very similar to one extensively worn by another CC singer :rollin The level of coincidence in this is quite funny though Cheers, Jillian |
