I watched her 15-language version of Let It Go about a month or so ago, and was thoroughly impressed! Quite a voice Saara has!

Saara just delivered another stellar performance in the X-Factor UK Finals. Here's the video and if you don't want to sit through the preliminary footage feel free to forward to 1:34 where her song begins:

So Saara has made it through to the final 4! She's now 2nd. favourite to win, after being in the bottom 2 in week one if I recall correctly, probably the first time this has happened (if she finishes in the top 2.). She's not "the chosen one" of course, that seems to be the boy (Matt Terry) and she has the disadvantage of no guaranteed thousands of 'home town' votes so it would be a real shock if she were to win it but either way, what an astonishing success story this has been for her so well done already, whatever happens next. Incidentally, I'm sure that her ability to play her own piano accompaniment has impressed many viewers. To think that this thread has been going for 10 years now, well done Steve for starting it and keeping us up to date over the years. This could be a genuine case of persistence paying off. Cheers, Dave

What a great show! On last week's X Factor, each of the five remaining acts sang two songs each. The theme was "Louis Loves"; and judge Louis Walsh chose the five songs to be performed. I think this show was the best of the series so far...unfortunately the act voted off (Honey G) had to deal with a potentially dangerous stage invasion.
Richard and Steve, I was able to watch both your videos! Here is Saara's second song of the show song ...
This Saturday, heading into the Live Show Week Nine each of the four judges/mentors has one act left: Simon Cowell has one girl left (Emily Middlemass), Nicole Sherzinger has one boy (Matt Terry), Sharon Osborne has one over-25 left (SAARA AALTO), and Louis Walsh has one group left (Five After Midnight). Should be a great week, as the theme is Christmas Songs! I believe Saara can win and feel it will either be her or Emily Middlemass!

Just watched the X Factor series 13 grand finale on American TV. Saara was, in my opinion, the hardest-working contestant this year. Usually the second-place winner does better in the short term. Congratulations to Matt Terry who was brilliant from first audition to final song.
Thanks, Richard, for the X-tra Factor clip. AXS TV in the states did not air this companion show this year.
But well done to Saara!

Saara was in the lead after the first day of the two day final, when there were still three competitors. But when the final boy band was eliminated, more of their voters appear to have transferred to the last man standing than to Saara - also her songs on the last day were more subtle and less well known than those of Matt who won it, which would have influenced the many people who only tune in for the final - and vote.
Saara is definitely a better singer than Matt, whose vocal range for example is very limited; I noticed him having to go falsetto several times during parts of songs usually sung within the normal range but of course this kind of thing is probably too subtle for many voters!
I have been impressed with Saara's development during the series, she has improved as a singer and performer more than anyone else and as Richard mentioned, is delighted at how far she progressed - within an inch of winning the whole thing and without the usual "home town support" in voting available to the other performers. She interviews well, too, so will get a lot of media slots when her turn comes round.
I think Matt will do well in the short term, he gets the first bite at record releases - but Saara will do best in the longer term. She's here to stay, I'd say. But what her genre will end up as, I have no idea! Maybe even musical theatre. I just hope if she signs for Simon Cowell's Syco, they don't wreck her chances.
Cheers, Dave
