Hi Grant and Dave. I too have downloaded (in 2 mins) so where did your 20 come in? However I did have another problem to do with being on my mac, I could not download at all so had to reboot in Vista to download but I did play the first three on the mac and was moved to tears at the thought of what we have lost here this year. The quality is superb. She is so lovely I cannot believe she is prepared to give us the time she does when ever she can when she's live and the subtley of her. That 'braid' in her hair. I could not quite catch what is was perhaps no more than an embellished clip, small discreet so effective. Just the right amount of glitter in the right place at the right time. The children coming on was fantastic and her being seated for when she sang with them was a simple but most appropriate right touch to have heads together. The faces of the children looked on her adoringly, one had the feeling they could not believe they were on stage with Hayley Westenra and were enthralled at every minute. Peter S. Hi Peter, There is an easy way to download this onto a Mac, if you know the shell. Simply get wget from Versiontracker and install it, Copy the URL to your Clipboard, open a shell, type wget <paste URL> <enter>, that's all. Worked perfect on my Mac. Maybe there are more Mac-like ways. The Videos are wonderfull and very best quality. I got an HD TV and high quality sound system myself, and yes, it is almost like being with her in the hall, she has the most beautiful voice I know. It is a shame she not known in Europe or US very well, she deserves much more attention in the media and I would love if she once would perform in Germany. Dieter

Thanks for your advice dieter, I'll give it a whirl. I still have not got the hang of Mac ways of doing things and you sound to be at where I want to go with new technology. In this area we don't go over to digital broadcasting reception until 2012 so there is no pressure on me to upgrade which in my case means throwing out a Sony receiver and analogue vid recorder which has PAL, NTSC and SECAM facilities and I hate waste but then these things have lasted twenty odd years so can reasonably be said to have been good (although at the time expensive) buys!
I think I could have handled it by using Mac4flip (I think that is what it said) but it meant registering it and paying an unknown fee. I think that is the latest Mac way of doing things and I must have downloaded it as an add-in which I never got round to registering at the time. Peter S.

The add-in for Quicktime is called Flip4mac and the player is free. An alternative might be to try VLC (www.videolan.org) that works well for .wmv files. Both work well on the Mac. Bill

Hi Bill, It may depend on your VLC version. With mine (Version 0.9.8 Grishenko (Intel)) the videos play perfect. AFAIK the windows media code has been added quite recently. The flick4mac Quicktime plugin also works perfect with me. I did not try, but usually the MS original mediaplayer for Mac is not recommended for being outdated and instable. And strange enough MS advertises flip4mac on their download page. Peter, to be honest, what I told you would almost certainly be not the way a "real" Mac user would do it, it is more the way of a command line freak trying to work with a GUI Dieter

...Following is the best Oh Holy Night we have... Hello Graeme and everyone, Following the discussions about "O Holy Night" in the "Winter Magic" thread for Japan, I'd like to add the following. I have been toying with the idea of uploading to YouTube and HWI the video of O Holy Night separately, perhaps with one or two of the other songs from "Christmas Presence". It would be like White Christmas (aspect ratio 16:9) not The Prayer (aspect ratio 4:3). These are currently the only two songs from that concert and TV broadcast that are uploaded separately, the others are in two blocks of three songs each. There would be an element of duplication as I wouldn't remove the existing compilations... but I wonder if it would be a good thing to upload a few more of them separately and if so, which of the six songs www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AZsFasbMwg and www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxK2d7uPaQQ they should be? My slight concern with O Holy Night and the reason I haven't done it separately so far is that the TV sound levels were all wrong at the climax, resulting in Hayley's voice being drowned by the orchestra at a critical time. Thoughts, please! Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, I just played OHN from your later clip again. Because Hayley is released from the orch. backing as she finishes I don't feel that the swamping problem is that bad. With Youtube viewing I'm of the strong opinion that one song only should be displayed at one time. It confuses the issue otherwise and removes peoples' focus. Very rarely have I noticed others display more than one song at a time. One exception is Rhydian as he sang 2 songs in one venue but I think that illustrates the point. As for other songs from Cardiff, the more the merrier....Hayley sings a beautifully diverse set & the common titles will link them anyhow. Thanks for asking, Graeme

As Dave pointed out, this discussion was off topic in the thread "Winter Magic - Japanese edition", so I have moved it here.

Best wishes Martin I haven't actually downloaded Real Player since my system was rebuilt a few weeks ago. I'm waiting for someone to suggest that that might be a solution! Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant, Re your music player. My WMP plays the file fine as do VLC player & Itunes. Also Realplayer. I like Realplayer for its ability to offer downloads from youtube as .flv files. Grant, you may find that you need some extra plugins that your reconfigured PC lacks. I notice that 22 people have downloaded OHN up to now & so far no comments. Anyone else have troubles? If there are I can upload the file as an mp3. Graeme

Anyone else have troubles? If there are I can upload the file as an mp3. But does that mean they've been able to play it? I think an MP3 file would be good if it's no trouble Best wishes Grant
