Hi Joe, Allentown eh? Is there really a jail there or is that only in the song? As you know, I recently saw Hayley at the Pony Centre right next to Wormwood Scrubs prison. She will have to watch out or she'll get a reputation as a jail-bird! You have a great time in October and don't leave the venue until you have met her! Best wishes, Roger

Hi Roger, That's right, the song "Allentown Jail"...I won't steal a diamond for Hayley though! And in the Billy Joel Song "Allentown", all the factories are closing down. Needless to say, Allentown has gotten a bad rap. But Scranton (15 mi. from me) is the city where the US "The Office" is set. Folks from the BBC were there recently. Hello Cathleen, I will take TONS of pictures! And Richard...you're the best! Thanks for counting the days!!

I think I'm in as well. Hopefully I can convince Alena and her hubby to tag along. Although I am starting a new job this week and don't know where things will be in 85 days, I think I can still slip over for this concert. I'll be working in Newark, so my friends can just hop a train to Penn Station, I'll pick them up, and we're on Route 80 and on our way.
BTW, Allentown is not at all a bad place, even if its days as a steel town are over. Easton proper, where the concert will be, is actually very cosmopolitan with Federal courts and Lafayette College. Pennsylvania culture doesn't end with Philly. If Hayley's got time maybe she can swing through Doylestown and check out Henry Mercer's museum and house, both of which are built entirely of poured concrete, including the window lattices.

Steven, do you have any idea how far Allentown is from upstate New York? I guess I should check on MapQuest or something. Is this entirely Hayley's concert? I might be able to come as well depending how far away it is. I have my Olympus digital stereo recorder so I could capture any new songs she sings for you guys if I go. I'll have to look into this. I would really love to see Hayley and you, Alena and Josh again!!

Hi all, I'll be happy to re-post my original message that somehow was deleted... ***BREAKING NEWS...HWI EXCLUSIVE***Hayley's concert in the Allentown,PA area has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2005. The date has been confirmed by WLVT TV. Here's the letter that I've received: [black]Dear Viewers, Thank you for your commitment to PBS 39 and your patience in awaiting the rescheduling of the Hayley Westenra Concert Arrangements have been finalized and the concert will be held: Saturday, October 22, 2005 8:00pm State Theatre 453 Northampton Street Easton, PA Tickets and directions will be mailed approximately 4 weeks prior to the concert. Thank you for your patience while we awaited Ms. Westenra’s new concert date. If you have any questions, please call Jan Creedon, Membership Manager, at 610-867-4677, ext. 131. Sincerely, Julie Benjamin Senior Vice President Development & Community Partnership[/black] As far as I know, this is a members-only event. Those members of WLVT-TV 39 who pledged for Hayley during the first part of the year got tickets. I pledged $280 to get four tickets. You may wish to call the phone number above to see if they are still giving a pair of tickets in exchange for a pledge of $140. Here is the website to the State Theatre of the Arts in Easton, PA. I am hoping that tickets will be available to the general public.

Hi all and welcome doggurl!
I certainly hope that tickets are still available; whether through PBS pledging or from the State Theatre itself.
Natasha, this is one of the postponed tour dates from last spring. From your location, I think it would be a two-hour trip for you. I'd certainly like to see you, Crystal,Tim, also Steven and his family.

Hi Joe, I tried to change the subject line for you, but it didn't work. As someone (not me!) lost your first post, I'm not going to try another possibility that I thought of... too risky i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I'll leave that to Keith when he's next on. Cheers, Dave.

How far is Allentown from upstate NY? Well, I would say that what you do is get on I-95 south, which becomes the New Jersey Turnpike, and take that to Exit 14, which is Newark Liberty International Airport and I-78. Then you get on I-78 West, and take it pretty much the whole way across NJ until you see signs for US-22 and the Philipsburg bridge. Cross over the Philipsburg bridge and go a few miles on US-22 and you'll be in Easton, where the concert proper is. Overall, I'd say it's about a 2 hour drive, assuming you don't get stuck.
It'd be great to see you again, of course.
