Thanks very much to everyone for your fine reviews. Tashi, your concern for the little girl who tried to present Hayley with the flowers is beautiful and typical of your caring nature. I probably shouldn't say this here, but I think you're lovely. Roger

Ah, Roger, you only say about Natasha what some of us have known to be the case for quite a while. I can't say I saw the incident she refers to, as my seat was much further back, but oh dear, what a heartbreaker. I remember at Joe's Pub in the city Hayley made a point afterwards of getting to the kids first, Katherine too the second time, and I would find it very hard to believe she has changed in that regard, at least she had not when I talked to her that evening. I also remember a fan dashing down the aisle at Carnegie Hall to present Cecilia Bartoli with flowers at the end of a concert.
(sigh) I'm kinda torn about this issue. No doubt the little girl didn't have mischief on her mind, but attempting to present something like that in the middle of a concert rather than at the end is probably a mistake, as the artist needs to be concentrating on the performance. But, there is nothing like that feeling when you make a personal connection with the artist, and nothing quite like the disappointment at being told sorry, you can't meet this person. Well, with any luck this girl will get a second chance, and so too will Joe and Natasha, who I know Hayley would like to see again.

Thanks Steven, Joe and Natasha for your detailed and enjoyable reviews! Although, I didn't enjoy reading about the little girl, Natasha... what a pity Hayley didn't notice her. I think an adult should have acompanied her really, that probably would have ensured that she was noticed. Oh well, sometimes these things happen, I'm afraid... Overall though, it seems to have been a most enjoyable show, I wish I could have been there! Cheers, Dave

....But as Steven said, it shouldn't have happened in the middle of the show. That was not the little girl's fault but an adult should have prevented it. Immediately prior to the final encore is not unusual and she may have had more success at that time.

I didn't see the little girl approach the front of stage. That must have been when I was trying to disable the flash on my new digital camera when the flash went off! Lucky for me it was between songs when the lights were up...glad I wasn't nicked!
I think, since the concert was mainly in aid of PBS, that a representative of the local station should have been there and interviewed Hayley. No mention on the WLVT website of the concert.
Also I feel that a concert programme should have been handed out to the arriving audience. Your thoughts on this, Steven?
Plus I just know that I'll get a chance to meet Hayley properly "one sweet day".

Dunno about an interview, although maybe if they were later planning to air her special.
Generally I do prefer to have a printed programme handed out to the audience, in chorus we always do, in fact its a valuable source of revenue by selling ads. However, programmes are expensive to print and produce, and if they don't reach a certain level they can look "beneath" the artist. For my local chorus it's ok to just have printed pages and a cover drawn by our resident artist and mass-copied at Staples, but for someone like Hayley you would need photographs and glossy paper, done by a print shop. A non-profit outfit like WLVT might not want to throw those kind of resources into something that might just get thrown away.
There's also the question of tying the artist to a specific song list, when she might be iffy about doing certain pieces, since the programme would need to be drawn up some time in advance, particularly if advertising space is being sold, and who knows how the artist will be feeling the day of the show?
Now, if Hayley were doing a tour or gig with a full orchestra, by all means, I'd say print a program, a nice glossy one with the Odyssey cover, a song list, texts and translations, notes on the songs, Hayley's bio, and maybe one or two pictures of her that would be seen for the first time there.
Oh, and of course there is one more advantage to a printed programme. If you are lucky enough to see Hayley afterward, it's one more place she can sign "love, Hayley xxx," preferably across one of those nice pics.

Hehe, what a gal! Anyone can throw $$ to some charity, but it's those little personal touches that make all the difference. A word from Hayley or a moment with her is almost always a gem in the circle of life, and this one certainly twinkles.

Hello Natasha! I saw Hayley's note to you on the official forum. I think it proves that Hayley also reads our forum, and it's nice that she manages to find the time. I bet you and Crystal are looking forward to your world tour! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes to both of you, Richard
