True Paul, it's just a bit of fun - or maybe for when you are in a hurry. I know I said it's an imperfect system but I didn't realise just HOW imperfect - you can even like your own posts ... and you did!  PS: If you'd like your Lyric FM thread to lose the Like discussions, we can easily move those posts into a separate thread, so just say the word |

I could only see a 'Like' button option so I added that. Some social media sites or other forums have removed thumbs-down options anyway, presumably because it can and sometimes is used systematically against people - or by trolls. We used to have that on Youtube, one or two people would immediately hit the thumbs-down on every new Hayley video I uploaded, they probably didn't even watch the videos. But Youtube have now removed the thumbs-down option. What does thumbs-up mean anyway? That you like the comment or opinion, like the news that was given, like one of several bits of the post (but what if you didn't like the rest?) or just wanted a quick way of saying "OK" in reply to a post directed at you? I guess it all depends on the context - and most posts will probably continue to have no Likes anyway, I'd imagine. So yeah, it's an imperfect system but we'll see how it goes. On the contrary Dave, most posts will be seen by me, as I still log on regularly, so I just may like most of the posts just to prove otherwise!  |

I use it when someone else beats me to posting a comment that I would have posted. Also, on Facebook and YouTube to indicate that I like a video or piece of music. Facebook has a "love" button too, so you can indicate how much you like something. You never know, a lot of likes might persuade the poster to post more of the same. |

Marty just loves Hayley's Ave Maria, doesn't he! Yes, I think he really took a shine to Hayley after he interviewed her for his Marty in the morning show. I have a sneaking suspicion I first heard the Ave Maria by Hayley on RTE Lyric Fm in my parents house one morning in March 2006 while I was fitting a replacement immersion water heater, I have a habit of writing the date on appliances when I am fitting them and it still has March 2006 on the cap over the heater element terminals. I remember discussing Hayley's voice with my father. |
