I've heard All I have to dream, and it's one of my favourite (if not the most favourite song) songs from hushabye All I have to do is dream Quite puzzled to see this song is not on the US release I would have been happy to buy a different version of Hushabye just for that one song. It also had great potential as a Radio Airplay number, the song itself being familiar to so many people already, a ready made hit.

Hey, the Amazon charts sure jumped from last night! In Music, Hushabye went from 13,665 up to 1,009! I mean, 1,009 isn't a great number, but that's still a huge difference from last night! Also, in Lullabies, it went up from #68 to #9! It also charted in Classical and Broadway & Vocalists category. I think it was #37 in Classical. Compared to Paradiso, which got to #2 in Classical at one point... or did it get to #1? No, I think it was #2 behind Il Volo's album.
Comet, I think the same bonus tracks are on the Itunes version, just like in the UK. I don't think this song would make much difference in sales... except for one Irishman. LOL
I have just received my US copy today, right on time. I was a little unhappy that there was no mention at all about Sleep On being for the Royal baby. On the sticker on the front, all it said was there were lullaby favorites, including Sleep On (as well as other songs). A new song can't really be considered a "favorite" yet, at least not outside of the Hayley fan world.

LOL I know that was intended in the kindest manner Libby and I know you are one of Hayley's most dedicated fans in the US. Some people buy cds by browsing the racks in a real music shop. They usually flip it over and read the tracklist, if it is legible and not in 1mm high text The more tracks that are familiar the more likely they are to purchase it. They think a "Download" is something yucky you might step in. All I have to do is dream was a huge hit, The song is ranked #142 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. This means millions and I mean millions of people are familiar with it and may well have bought the cd for just this one track. CheckWiki I am glad to say it was recorded and released before I was born, Just about. It was probably getting radio airplay in my first few months of life and I probably heard it then, We were so poor then we would huddle around the old valve wireless just to stop us freezing to death

Yes, quite a wonderful track, I can see people buying the album for the track. Her new vocal technique was best suited for that kind of a song, and the way she sang it accompanied by really dreamy music was perfect. Her harmonies were spot on too!

Indeed, she does a good job on it. I think I was about 15 when the Everly Brothers version came out.. Everly Brothers were everything right then. And they had some great songs. Cathy's Clown, Bird Dog, So Sad, Crying in the Rain, When will I be Loved, Temptation (thought to be the loudest record ever recorded at the time), Poor Jenny, Walk Right Back.....
Hayley does a very decent version of it. But when you are used to the original, well, it is hard to admit another version is superior.. But strangely I had no problem like that with BOTW - Haylet does that better than anyone I have ever heard.

It will be interesting to see if Hushabye gets in the Billboard classical chart, it should do because the rules are less strict than in the UK.
Should we change the thread title to "UK, US etc..."?
Cheers, Dave

I'm familiar with the song, but that was the problem for me. I've never liked it. Another speech about how Hayley can make you like a song is not necessary this time. I heard the clip, and just did not care for it. Does that somehow make me less of a fan of Hayley's? I think not! I am a huge fan of Hayley, just not a big fan of Hushabye. Is that so wrong? I don't appreciate your comment, I sense the mockery in it. Oh yes, someone who writes letters to movie directors and composers, and Mormon tabernacle choirs, and figure skaters, and even used a fan mail address to write to DWTS to try to get Hayley to sing on the show... oh, I'm not a big fan, oh no, not me. A song that was a hit a long time ago does not mean it will be a big hit now. To me, it's kind of a cheesy-sounding song (mostly due to the voice), and even with Hayley singing it, there's still plenty of cheese left just with the silly gee whiz. Anyway, I don't use Itunes, so I would have no way of obtaining it even if I wanted it. Unfortunately, I don't think the album will be sold in any music stores. On BN's site, they don't show "Pick up in store" as an option at all. That's the only store in the US that would have her CDs in person, as far as I know.

Hello folks! I've changed the thread title as Dave suggested, and I'll also modify the Japanese thread title as Paul requested. Richard

Libby, I don't know who you are addressing that to, but nobody can say you are not a huge Hayley fan after all the work you have done to support her. We might disagree over which song we prefer, and which of Hayley's performances, but that is not the point. were all supporting Hayley as an artist. I don't expect to like everything my favourite artists do, but Hayley has made be enjoy songs I used to detest. She has the power to do that. Songs that made me say to myself "Oh no, she is not recording THAT is she". Yet when I hear her recording, I change my mind about the song. Try replacing "Gee Whizz" with the word "dreaming" if you like. It is less American, but fits perfectly. Honestly Libby, I don't think Hayley has ever recorded or performed anything that I didn't like her version of. I think that might be unique; every other artist I have liked has eventually "gone off". But if she want's a real challenge, I suggest trying to make me love that wrong headed atheist anthem "Imagine" from John Lennon. But somehow I don't think she will.

I was mostly talking to comet. I forgot to quote him, but he was the main one talking about that song, anyway. I didn't quite get what he was saying, but I could sense mockery... the :2fun: thing is what made me think that. I shouldn't have to feel ashamed for disliking a song he thinks is so wonderful. For me, the lyrics of that song are nice, but the sound of the guy's voice just cannot make me take the song very seriously, and when the gee whiz comes in, it's all over for me. And as I said, Hayley's much more beautiful voice does not improve things much for me. I'm glad she makes you like songs, Martin, but I'm afraid I can be a little harder to please, as far as that goes. Pretty voices can't always make songs I don't like that much better. It depends on the song. Some songs, I just don't want to like. That's why Hayley's own songs are in such high demand by her fans these days, because she has never once disappointed us with her own songs.

Libby,
I don't think Hayley would consider most of the songs I dislike. There are a few, they are the ones on the "too cheesy" side rather than the depressing or disgusting ones, or the songs thar make me squirm with embarrassment for the singer, which I'm sure Hayley would not touch with a bargepole.

Just having a look at some of Hayley's performance and interviews on YouTube, when I realized next week will mark five years since Hushabye was released in the UK!
I really enjoyed watching Hayley's interview on BBC Breakfast from June 17, 2013 (the album's release day). Here it is, below, for you to enjoy as well...
