Hello everyone
Well, Hayley was not wrong about Hushabye being more than an album of Lullabies. I arrived home just after 1pm having spent over an hour fighting my way through Download Festival traffic to find my copy waiting for me. With fresh brewed coffee and slippered feet, I settled down to listen.
OK, I've only played it once but this is one beautiful album and I love it! I am so glad I resisted the temptation to listen to all the sample tracks - it was hard to do at times. But to listen to the album completely fresh made it worth while. It really does feel as though Hayley is in the room with you which makes the whole experience very intimate and personal.
I have heard Sleep On and Twinkle in full previously and they are both early favourites. I also particularly like Goodnight My Angel, All Through The Night and When At Night BUT above all of that, the new version of Hine is just wonderful - it was, of course, the song that introduced me to Hayley all those years ago and thus will always have a special place in my heart.
What makes this album stand out for me is the very different way that Hayley uses her voice - as an instrument to sooth and calm. It IS a very different Hayley to the one we are used to but again it proves that there is, apparently, no end to her abilities.
Best wishes Grant
P.S. Dave, I'll be going to ASDA in the morning and will make a point of looking for Hushabye.

In fact Hayley said on BBC breakfast this morning that she deliberately sang closer to the microphone than she would normally do so and also used minimal backing in order to create the soothing atmosphere. Cheers Martin

Someone ought to head over to Amazon.co.uk and give this CD a lovely review. So far it has one review with 2 stars and another with 3 stars...which doesn't look very good for business.

Very good point, ideally short reviews from people who bought it from there so it shows up as a verified purchase. It's 2.5 stars looks out of place for a (currently) Amazon top 5 album so I think I'll have to do something about that - don't all go off and vote me down though, pretty please! www.amazon.co.uk/Hushabye-Hayley-Westenra/dp/B00BYR1W2SCheers, Dave

Just wrote a review, gave the album 5 stars, it is a much better album than I first expected I couldn't take any stars away, even the songs I hate I love on this album, so relaxing and I love how Hayley uses her voice, it's different, but really works.
I also love the album artwork and think it is great that they printed the sheet music to sleep on in the album booklet.

Sheet music? I don't suppose this means they actually put lyrics in the booklet? I hope so, because if the Japanese version doesn't even have all the tracks, then we'll never get lyrics to all the songs in it. Well, most of them are ones you could find by searching on Google, anyway, so no big deal, I guess. But we all know how that worked with the songs on Treasure and Odyssey.

Yes, I like to see lyrics on an album booklet too! One of the plusses of buying the actual physical CD over a download. Makes your life easier too Libby, maintaining the comprehensive set of Hayley lyrics on Hayleyonline. Although I have known printed lyrics in albums to differ from those that are actually sung! hayleyonline.net/index.php?page=k&key=LyricsMartin D

Hope so Dave. Just like this morning, I'll be on the M1 at that time. And probably still no Hushabye to play. This week is a disaster so far!!!!

Songs like Danny Boy and She Moved Through the Fair had slightly different lyrics than what you found through google. In fact, the lyric websites had the lyrics wrong for Hayley. Never Saw Blue was wrong. Instead of "a month ago I was alone" they put "among the gold I was alone". LOL Among other inaccuracies.
