What I would find interesting is - Just how many Hushabye albums went out free as a result of babies being born on Prince George's birth day? I don't remember ever seeing anything about the result of that idea. BobS

What I would find interesting is - Just how many Hushabye albums went out free as a result of babies being born on Prince George's birth day? I don't remember ever seeing anything about the result of that idea. BobS Hi Bob, All I ever saw was a lady on Facebook who had twins on the same day. She posted multiple times to say that she hadn't got her CD and her emails weren't getting a reply. Who knows, that may have been fixed. I remember that the online form for applying for a CD was shut down really quickly after the royal birth actually happened. I don't know, I never got the impression that many were given out (I even have my suspicions that Decca may have even secretly cancelled it? -- Hence the apology by providing the wallpaper downloads?) Or either that could have been because there was confusion because they were advertising the free CDs for the speculated birth date when in fact Prince George was born more than a week later. Who knows? I had more of a problem with Decca trying to pretend that the royal couple had appointed Hayley to record Hushabye. The official line was that Hayley 'had been chosen'... but it was by Decca. lol It must have been a bit embarrassing for Hayley in interviews to try and deal with people asking her about 'what an honour it must have been'.

I'm sure Hayley would have laughed it off and made it clear that it was Decca's idea. She has said that repeatedly anyway. We don't know even if William and Kate are aware that the album exists!

I think both Hayley and Jon Cohen have a lot to be proud of in the album Hushabye. I just love it, I could have done without Twinkle, but the little ones love it, especially the videos of Hayley on YouTube. There are at least half a dozen other tracks on it that I am happy to hit repeat on.... Ask Rodney The younger fans among us may find a place for it later in their lives, even though at the moment it puzzles them, Some times it takes years for certain types of music to become relevant to the listeners life and then it surfaces from the subconscious.

I agree i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I love the album I've only just replaced it on my car sterio with "Winter Magic" BUT I disagree about Twinkle - it's one of my favourite tracks Best wishes Grant

Comet, lullabies don't puzzle me, they just don't entertain me the least little bit, and I find the lyrics far too patronizing for my taste. I'm afraid I prefer more emotional, mature music. I don't see myself needing the soothing aspects of the album for a long time. As for myself, I was listening to some Paradiso songs recently, and I decided that songs like Once Upon a Time in the West, the Edge of Love, Whispers in a Dream, Would He Even Know Me Now, Profumo di Limone, etc., are perfectly adequate for soothing and relaxing me. And then listening to Malena, one of Hayley's best songs as far as her own lyrics go, is so beautiful and romantic, and has me really longing for more of Hayley's love songs, because she is amazing at it! And Hushabye did not make the wait for a "real" Hayley album any easier, in fact, it made me much more impatient for it! I'm still quite perplexed by UMC's tweet, since there's no evidence whatsoever of any Hushabye on their website.

Hi Jillian, From what you have said about the Hushabye freebies, it sounds like the idea was a complete bust. It makes one wonder who was behind such a flop. Thanks for the info, BobS

Looks like an attempt to relaunch the album by putting in the right place to be seen by those with babies and young children. You can add me to the list of those who enjoy Hushabye, and I love Twinkle, just for the brilliant way Hayley and Jon have made something a bit different out of it.
As you know Libby, I'm a great fan of Paradiso too, ad Malena is my favourite track.
As for my car stereo, I had been playing Odyssey for a while, now replaced with "Hayley Live at the Union Chapel". I managed to fit all except 3 tracks from the concert onto it.

Funny it was mentioned on twitter about her album now being available at babiesrus and toysrus because I recently bought a copy for a friend who just had her baby. She absolutely loved Hayley's CD <3 Caite

But it's really too bad that the album is, I repeat, nowhere to be found on either "R Us" website. And if they were going to do that at all, they should have done it right when the album was released here.

The younger fans among us may find a place for it later in their lives, even though at the moment it puzzles them, Some times it takes years for certain types of music to become relevant to the listeners life and then it surfaces from the subconscious. That's certainly a point, Comet. But at no point has Hayley ever said that the album is relevant to her. From the outset it has always been clear that Hushabye was a just Decca product placement. It's the lack of sincerity which gets me. I know it wasn't Hayley's fault, but I felt really quite let down by that. Hayley is far too good to be wasting her time trying to latch onto a passing 10 minute craze. I know it was an over-reaction, but for a while it made me doubt that Hayley was ever serious or at all sincere about her music at all. I know now that Hayley is (she showed that at Union Chapel - which I viewed as being a concerted effort on Hayley's part to regain lost ground). But I'm honest in saying that Hushabye made me seriously question my fan status, which I didn't particularly enjoy. So that's why I dislike Hushabye so much. If Hayley had stood there hand on heart and said that she genuinely wanted to do it and the album meant a lot to her, then I'm sure my view would be very different.

Not sure the birth of George had quite the impact in the USA that it did in the UK. This is still a very good album of lullabies that might appeal to onyone in search of such a thing. Better late than never with trying to reach a target audience. It could be a slow burner and go on for years if handled right.

And Jillian, There are some very innovative touches on Hushabye. It is only the material that was less imaginative than you would have liked, and you can't blame either Jon or Hayley for that. It was imposed.
And some of us actually like it anyway. Even though as I said before, it is like buying a 200mph supercar to drive on an island with a 35mph global speed limit ( and some do, I've been there). But thank heaven for Bridge Over Troubled Water. It shows that Hayley still has has the W Factor ( which is much more impressive than the X factor - isn't X a rude word?). W stands for WOW by the way.
And yes the Union Chapel was special.. Song after song, when I listen carefully I realised she did better than ever before. For example, I had always though her Wuthering Heights, delivered when she was ill at the Northampton Derngate was the best performance of that song ever. This of a song she has sung since she was 15, and ever present in her concert performances. I have changed my mind, and if you can find a recording of her performance at the Union Chapel you will see my point. I know Comet has one... and it is on my Live at the Union Chapel CD. When I heard the audio of that song on that CD, the hairs on my neck stood up.. it is a long time since that song affected me like that.
