Libby, Moving on from 'Antique Cover Versions' to original material? Yes, that would certainly get my vote! Even something like Decca did for Faryl (Or indeed Hayley did for her Japanese Songs albums) and putting new words to old tunes would be a very good step in the right direction, IMO. Create songs with real meaning for Hayley, then let her tap into that feeling and cut loose... The result would be truly extraordinary, I have no doubt. What did Decca do for Faryl? And they just did that with Paradiso, so we don't need that again, at least for a while. I'm all for people writing songs for Hayley (when's ALW going to write that song for her?!), but I'm far more interested in songs with real meaning that she creates herself. Which is partly what I mean when I say I want a "real Hayley album".

Faryl's River Of Light is just new words to The Blue Danube, but it's a wonderful song Overall, though, I do agree that completely original songs are the best way to go for any artist

I love these teasers. I wonder if we will get a preview pic and a sample of one of the songs.
Here's hoping

This is all happening quickly! I guess she would have to do the photoshoot quickly if she wants to fit it in before she goes off on her "month long jaunt". She's performing in Taiwan next Tuesday, so it's pretty tight. Otherwise she wouldn'r be able to do the photoshoot for another month. But it does suggest that the album will be released sooner rather than later. Martin D

Most likely won't happen on this upcoming album as I agree that it will feature her own original work. Don't know if this has been suggested before, but I think it would be interesting to have an album that showcase her language abilities. Let say half the album in English and a couple of songs in Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Māori and French to complete the whole album. It will certainly be very unique.

Well, Paradiso covers French, Italian and Portuguese as well as English. And other languages are used on her other albums. She has certainly gone a long way in that direction already. And I have always loved her Maori songs. Hayley has a way of being unique and groundbreaking, one of the things I love about her, and I'm sure that will continue with the new album.

There's no reason why an album of original material couldn't include anything in Maori. Remember On the Wings of Time? Of course, that was an existing melody, but she wrote her own lyrics to it, and some of them were in Maori (I'm sure she had a translator help her, though). And, as much as I'd love it, I'm guessing the album won't be entirely original material, just hopefully a lot more than ever! I wouldn't mind being proven wrong, though. Except, I am really, really hoping for I Know You By Heart and Bridge Over Troubled Water, and.. okay, I'd better stop! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I think there was never a time when she had more than 3 or 4 original songs...and not to mention she also said something about working with a lot of people, some I'm guessing there'll be quite some duets or collaborations too. With that said, and David foster hinting that she should record prayer sometime, I'm almost most certainly positive that this album would have hayley singing Prayer with maybe Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Il divo .etc I'm expecting some really big collaborations too that she mentioned about it ages ago. So I'm expecting a 14 song album with
4 original 3 duets/collaborations 7 covers 2 that she's already sung live 3 covers that she'd likely cover 2 something completely out of the genre to blow us away.
And some Bonus Maori/Japanese track to make it 15.
But for it to be a really successful album
7 original songs 3 duets 1. Prayer with Andrea Bocelli 2. some other big person (male) - original 3. some other big female singer (out of genre(Adele), to create a fusion) (of their original song, that only they've sung(Rolling in the deep))
4 covers 1. 2 that she's already sung live (Yes Bridge over troubled water and I know you by heart fills the gap very well) 2. 2 out of genre songs.
So by the estimation and comparison, I think this album will be a big hit as it has many things overlapping with what I'd think would be a successful album.

This is getting a little bit complicated, Simba. LOL I don't think there would be any more than 1 duet. 7 original songs would be outstanding! And the 2 covers she's sung live would be the ones I mentioned above, I would hope!

I'd like it if Hayley did something with Andre Rieu again (or Joshua Bell), like Josh Groban did on "Mi Mancherai." That way, she could do two duets!

What I hope for and be;eive she will do is an album of mostly original songs. Maybe only a couple of covers, BOTW plus other, perhaps Over the Rainbow or I dreamed a Dream. Probably no duets (athough something like Canto Della Terra with Bocelli would be fabulous). To my mind she needs to reproduce the brilliance of her Japanese songs albums without the copyright issues and incorporating the vocal pyrotechnics she demonstrates on Paradiso (and Oddysey to some extent). She has a lot of talent and a lot of experience. Bring it all together on one album and she's got a hit. Pure, her biggest hit, was mostly stuff that most people hadn't heard before. With a Maori twist. She needs something original like that again to fire people's curiosity. And she is a far more accomplished singer now than she was when she made Pure. We all know that. So she needs to use that. She has this habit of doing something different that leaves her competition in the dust, and those who try to imitate her struggling to catch up. That she is about to do it again I have no doubt.
