Hi all, Sainsbury`s Entertainment still have it listed showing a photo of an old cd single. What has caused the problem and confusion here?.The most likely new album release date must be late September to coincide with a uk tour.

I must admit I was surprised by the putative title, but I didn't take it literally as being 'an album of lullabies' any more than I assumed 'Paradiso' would be about Dante's poetic cycle I thought the exact same thing Elliot. That it could've been just a general term for Hayley's soft, haunting tone. In fact I don't think Lullabies was a half-bad name! lol but I don't really care what they name it - if we can get outstanding music out of two albums lazily titled "Hayley Sings Japanese Songs," then I'm not too concerned -Rory

That Amazon page almost felt like someone who doesn't much like Hayley was taking the mick! So I'm not keen on that title, I think it might give the wrong impression, as it already seems to have done with some people here. If it confuses her fans, what would it do for the general public? Wasn't keen on that cover either to be honest. I'd expect to see a much better job than that! The music is what matters I agree, and I know Hayley's fans will buy it no matter what, but a good looking cover and the right title can make a big difference when it comes to attracting sales.

Martin D Certainly, I just meant that music takes precedent. But yes I value the importance of titles as well, not just albums but songs too. There's always that one title, IMO, that seems just right for the work. Same goes for covers, although with Hayley it's a bit more of a challenge because her image must always be incorporated, rather than just a free piece of art -Rory

Exactly what I thought - it was clear that the cover was a very unprofessional lash-up but using "Lul...." (oooppps promised not to mention that again LOL) actually gave an indication of what the album would contain which could have put a lot of people off who may not have bothered to check further about a genuine album and it's contents. Looking back, we had to wait about 4 months for Odyssey after we heard the album was coming but there will be other considerations relating to timing of the release so I'd guess August to October for this one. Just a thought but I wonder if they'll use Hayley's time in Asia to come up with something interesting for the cover photo shoot? Best wishes Grant

I am amused by the angst being posted by members concerning the new album. Hayley hasn't made a bad album yet. I enjoy the suspense waiting.

I have to agree with Libby that an album of lullabies would most likely completely tank, but I'm sure Hayley knows that, too. Plus, what an absolute waste of her amazing voice that would be! I hope and suspect she is aiming to top Paradiso. A tall order, yes, but I honestly think she is only starting to hit her stride as an artist. If I'm right, everything we've heard to date is just her warming up... And that thought makes me a very happy Hayley fan. She's already amazing. How much MORE amazing may she yet become? I think it is possible for her to top Paradiso. All of the songs that she has penned are among my favorite Hayley songs. If she's written any of the songs, and I'm pretty sure she has (from things she's said here and there), then of course it will be good! Songs written for her voice will suit her voice best. That's what I've always noticed about her own songs, like Summer Rain and All With You, etc.

Excellent point, Rory, yes! I must admit I was surprised by the putative title, but I didn't take it literally as being 'an album of lullabies' any more than I assumed 'Paradiso' would be about Dante's poetic cycle (Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso, for anyone who isn't sure . That's what I've always noticed about her own songs, like Summer Rain and All With You, etc. Definitely agree that songs written for her will suit her voice best. Far easier for her to inhabit the song and truly live it while she sings it, too. And doing that helps lift any artist closer to their potential. A good singer can become great, while a great singer... well, hopefully we shall see

I've actually noticed that about other singers, too. Like singers on the talent shows, when they sing certain types of songs required for each week, it's not always that amazing. But then later, you hear a single or 2 of theirs on the radio, that's written/chosen particularly for their voice, I end up liking them better than I did on the competition.
For me, it was actually the picture itself that made me think it was literally a lullaby album. If they had just shown the title with no photo, I might not have been as quick to jump to conclusions. So, it really was the image itself that initiated my reaction. So,maybe they were thinking of calling it lullabies, and Amazon jumped the gun by making up a cover they thought would suit it; meaning they jumped to conclusions, too!
Going back to whether it can top Paradiso; for me, the less-themed, the better, so that would make a big difference for me. The Paradiso songs were all very lovely, if not exquisite, but with each song being fairly similar, I never liked to play the album all at once. I think I could actually say I prefer Treasure over-all, because I think I preferred the style of music better, and there seemed to be more variety. Also, it was the first album with songs written by Hayley.

Paradiso songs were all very lovely, if not exquisite, but with each song being fairly similar, I never liked to play the album all at It's true. The beginning of Malena and I Knew I Loved You are very similar, verging on identical, I might say. Once Upon a Time in the West also starts similarly, instrumentally -Rory

Hi Grant and everyone, I do not know any more about the album than last week, although I have it on good authority that Decca are likely to officially announce it in a couple of weeks time, so mid April-ish. Hopefully, all will then be revealed! Cheers, Dave

No, but I suppose it could be. I think just before or after Taiwan is more likely though and of course, these things are never set in stone.

What difference would it make if they announced it while she's in Taiwan? Wouldn't they just post it on her website? Or are they going to do have her do interviews already?
