Yep! I had a lot more concert predictions for states too, like WA, PA, and CA

Not a prediction, but a wish...
Hayley's next CD should be recorded 'as live' with only her usual backing group and no studio tricks, so that the many fans around the world who can't get to a concert can hear for the first time how she really sounds.

Trouble is Roger, it will still suffer from the limitations of CD as a medium. But some recent recordings can be made to sound really good on a home made CD I've found. Videos are sometimes at higher quality than CDs soundwise. I burned the soundtrack from the video of "I'll Make Music" with Karl Jekind accompaying her on the piano. In my opinion it is a better recording of her voice than the one on the commercial "Gloria" CD. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GZtmhlNiCII also did the same thing with the "The Angel and the Fallen" DVD, extracting Hayley's performances. Despite the CD standard being technically poorer than that on the videos, she still sounds stunning, and I rate these as the best recordings of Hayley that I have. Now, why can't we have a commercial CD at that quality? Sorry mods, I know it is straying off topic! Martin D

The loss of quality due to the CD medium is FAR less than the loss of realism due to the studio's post-production. I have created my own 'Winter Magic' CD from recordings made at the concerts. It has the same 'CD limitations' as a commercial CD, but it sounds so much better because it is recorded live, with no post-production and no heavily overlaid so-called 'backing'. To keep this thread on topic, there is unfortunately no way that all the predictions of Hayley playing the various countries can come true. The next best thing for these disappointed fans would be a proper 'Hayley Live with her band' CD, so that they can hear something approaching the sounds that we are privileged to enjoy.

They might as well just give us a DVD, if they did something like that. If it's supposed to give us a taste of a live concert, I'd kind of like to be able to see what's going on, too.

That would be great of course, but a DVD is an entirely different (and much smaller) market than a CD. Many of us do a lot of our listening in the car.

I have created my own 'Winter Magic' CD from recordings made at the concerts. It has the same 'CD limitations' as a commercial CD, but it sounds so much better because it is recorded live, with no post-production and no heavily overlaid so-called 'backing'. I have created several CD's from videos of Hayley's live performances. The sound quality is very variable, in some cases the recording were made by digital cameras, some were even my own recordings. I do a "Hayley's Yearbook" CD every year, based on a selection of her live performances. Even with the sometimes poor sound quality, the brillianct of her performance shines through. Her interpretation in particular has improved vastly recently, in fact none of her commercial recordings are showing that at the moment. But then, it is a while since her last commercial CD release, and I look forward eagerly to the Morricone album. This years CD includes a lot of stuff from her "Christmas Wishes" tour - and to be honest, it is universally stunning. Even in the last year, she has made great strides. If a live album were made, could we trust them to not mess about with it. "The Angel and the Fallen" is a bit special like that. But even the "On tour in Northern Ireland" DVD, whist OK, does not have the same "presence" that TAATF or I'll Make Music do. In those Hayley seems to leap out of the speakers at you - it sounds as if there is nothing between her voice and your ears. Will the commercial people ever get their brains round that? How that immediacy and presence is a part of Hayley's performances that they are losing on the CDs they produce. But it seems they are getting better. Pure was a pale shadow of what she sounded like live even then. Later albums have been better, but none really did justice to that magnificent voice. Some of the recent concert recordings seem to let it shine through, often despite poor sound quality. I think you might be right Roger about the processing done in the studio taking away much of the "bite" from her performances. Actually I wouldn't mind a DVD. It is not to hard to make a CD from the soundtrack - actually I have never done that with "Live from NZ". Perhaps I should. Martin D

I have created several CD's from videos of Hayley's live performances. The sound quality is very variable, in some cases the recording were made by digital cameras, some were even my own recordings. I've done that as a replacement for each of the CDs in turn, and in fact I rarely play the 'official' ones. Sometimes I do play them 'back to back' to other people and the responses are mixed. Those who are unfamiliar with Hayley usually prefer the studio recordings, probably because they are used to the professional finish. But those who know her voice invariably choose the live version. I do have a pretty good recorder though and often mix recordings from two or more performances to get the best results. You have answered yourself Martin. It CAN be done. Yes you should. I did so and it is so good that I even left in the applause which I normally edit out.

Well, ideally the DVD would coincide with an album, so most of the songs on the DVD would already be on a CD. But then, I prefer Hayley's live In Trutina to her album version, so there's always that issue. But as you say, it's possible to rip a DVD. I just have no idea how.

Predictions... Wishes... Hopes... I,m hoping, we've heard so little about the Ennio Morricone album. So, my wish / hope / prediction is : It is a soundtrack to a blockbuster movie, It will have a single released from it featuring that soprano singer from New Zealand what's her name ? It will be a worldwide hit kinda like Chi Mai and every one will know her name.. It is full moon an' I'm kinda giddy.. I should be working, but so far today I have watched a documentary about Ruby Murray, Then listened to two of her old albums, I really mean listened, eyes closed, fully relaxed, such pleasure ! Then Rhydian - O Fortuna, (I love tuna) a couple of cups of Yogi tea..complete with words of wisdom : " where there is mastery there is no mystery" Not so sure I believe that one..... and now Tubular Bells ll from 1992 the female vocal on it is gorgeous, Think it's Sally Bradshaw, butit might be Susannah Melvoin or Edie Lehman.. huh who knows for sure ? Albums eh ! they're like old friends, It's just so nice to hear from them again.. Who ? me ! off topic.. Blame it on the moonlight

Well, Hayley said "Hope to see you soon!" to Debbie Wiseman on twitter recently. Don't know if that means she will see her soon, but it could mean she's doing another movie soundtrack.

This isn't really a prediction, just something that made me wonder about what really could happen (but probably won't). I went to Ennio Morricone's website, and read about a concert he's doing in Moscow at the Crocus Hall on March 8th, called "Music from the Movies". It says there will be guest soloists. Now, since Hayley's album will most likely contain some of his "music from the movies", it really does make me wonder (and hope), that Hayley could be one of those soloists! Maybe it's too much to hope for, but it would make sense to have Hayley do at least one, since she's just made an album with these songs. Maybe it could even coincide with the album's release. But then, she didn't perform for Karl Jenkins' Gloria at Royal Albert Hall, either. And of course there's been no mention of any such thing, anywhere. translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fconcert.ru%2FDetails.aspx%3FActionID%3D19540&act=url

Well, I think it's safe to say Hayley's album will not be nominated at this year's CBA's. But I bet she will attend the ceremony, what with her "incredible collaboration" coming out. I hope it'll be out by then! I wouldn't consider May that early [as in "early 2011] in the year.
