Unfortunately, this tragedy doesn't seem to get the spotlight it deserves here in America. The media here is simply too preoccupied by what's happening in Libya. Even my Church didn't make any special appeal for donations for this disaster, which they did for Haiti. Truth be told I'm very dissappointed with them. Hi Dennis, My church didn't launch a special appeal either, but since I read the church notices, I made sure the congregation knew how they could donate to the earthquake appeal. And next Sunday I am preaching, so I can say some more. Martin D

This reminds me of a story about a girl who had a dream she was walking with God as she saw 2 sets of footprints in the sand. Later in life bad things happened: she got divorced, was made redundant and worst of all lost her best friend in an earthquake. Then she could only see one set of footprints. She was troubled by this as she felt all alone. One day she died, went to heaven and stormed through the pearly gates to confront God about her dream. "Now look here, God" she said. "When the earthquake struck I saw just one set of footprints in the sand. You weren't there for me, were you ? Why did you abandon me when I needed you most ?" God heard this and started to laugh. "Now look here," He said, "When you saw just one set of footprints, that's when I carried you." Here endeth my sermon, Martin, but you've probably heard that story before (I amended it to stay on topic). If not feel free to use it for your Church meeting. Hi Jeff Yes you have changed it a little haven’t you, I have that on my kitchen wall, it’s just titled FOOTPRINTS, and I have another one which I think relates to giving to charity, it says a rich man was walking down the street when he came upon a beggar lying in the gutter, he looked up towards heaven and said to God, “God, why have you given me so much when you have given this poor beggar nothing”?, God replied, “ perhaps I given you more then you need so that you might be able to give some to him”, I love this so much, it gives me inspiration to help other less fortunate than me. Much love Tracy.

I know what you mean, this quake is very close to home here in our little corner of the world, and I often wonder how we don’t get a lot of info on other catastrophes around the world, so many people suffer in the third world countries and we tend to shrug it off, but when something close to home happens we get pretty upset and race to respond with aid etc, sometimes it all seems a bit ironic really. I don’t have an answer to this but often question my responses to certain issues along these lines. Much love Tracy.

I wasn't a Hayley fan, I probably never would have heard of Christchurch. It might not have upset me as much as it has, either. Of course, I would've been concerned, but not nearly as much as I am. It just so happens that Christchurch is one of Seattle's sister cities, though. I like that. Hey, and so is Kaohsiung!

I thought Hayley attributed her sleeplessness to jet lag. But either way, it's good that she was awake, so she could call her family right away. my first thought was to groan. it always irks me when people acredit something obvously normal to something paranormal. the girl was jetlagged by 13hrs and hadnt got her sleep back to normal. of course, since something actually happened... she must be psychic. according to wikipedia, a recovery time of 1day per timezone is normal .

Very ilustrative the video Rogers has sent... Even simulated in such a small sccale, you can get the idea of how dangerous nature can be sometimes...

the spidermanYup Spidey, an hour a day is about right in my experience. But strangely, when I went to Australia, and came back, I seemed to adjust straight away to the 12 hour shift. Smaller shifts seem to take me longer, especially when travelling westward. In the USA for instance, I find myself falling asleep in the early evening, something I never do! Coming back doesn't seem quite as bad, perhaps because I mormally have to get up for work hours before I would from choice anyway. Martin D

Thank you, Ross! It was nice to hear Hayley sing the anthem, even if it was only a little bit. And she had a pretty pink flower in her hair.

The TV 3 news has far more about Hayley than the TV One video so watch that one too. I have made a video of the two news items joined together and you can download it here:- www.mediafire.com/?o8b6w1s6fy8jo2p
