i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif It seems appropriate that after Lonely Planet has voted Christchurch as the 6th best City in the World to visit i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif that I share one of the reasons why they did this. With the rebuild starting there are some interesting things happening. Like on Saturday evening an Architect Students festival staged a lighting show in the CBD amongst the vacant sites and about 12000 people turned up to see it. Trinity Church Vacant site New Regent Street. This is an Art Deco street and is being fixed and ready after Christmas The front of Isaac Theatre Royal which is being fixed But the back of the theatre needs rebuilding The Farmer's Car Park is coming down Some of the lighting displays A lot of cranes were used for the displays

Trinity Church It really saddens me to see this beautiful church in such a state. The porch way wall with hand painted text. The Pater Noster in Maori and English

Hi Ross,
Looks like everything is coming along, slowly but surely.
Hopefully it will be one day soon that everything is all tidied up and restored again!

Yes,I'm pleased to hear it too, although there were one or two sour comments on that Facbook page about prioritising rebuilding of houses. Why the work on the Cathedral would affect other rebuilding work. If it were my city I would be overjoyed that the wonderful cathedral can now be rebuilt. I'm pleased about it anyway, even though it isn't my city and I've never seen it.

I was at the Clearwater Golf Course watching the NZ Ladies Open and was waiting for Lydia Ko to start when the quake hit. The ground rolled quite a bit.

I saw this on the news this morning. Glad only a few were injured. I particularly like that last tweet

Today is the 5th anniversary of the Feb 22nd 2011 deadly quake in Christchurch. So far we have had 14000 recorded quakes and still counting after the 5.7 quake we had last week. But a lot is happening now with a lot of rebuilding going on but it will still take a long time for things to get back to normal.
