i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Had a great time at the Telethon. Our very own supermodel, Rachel Hunter, was there as well as radio DJ, Jason Gunn and our great mayor Bob Parker. Some good bands played as well and over $2.5 million dollars was raised.

No, I wasn't worried either. I tend to be very sceptical about anyone who says they know when the day and hour will come!

The Star newspaper have produced a fundraising pictorial paper called Earthquake 6.3 and one of the photos used was of Hayley singing at the Memorial Service in March.

We just had another big aftershock. It was 5.5 and centered at Rolleston 20km SW from Christchurch. No major damage but it certainly rattled the house. Last count we have had over 6700 shocks since September.

Wow. Any chance they'll ever stop for any decent length of time? Like forever?

It seems there is an earthquake somewhere in the world just about every day. I follow a service on twitter that reports them. Most do not make the news.

We had another large aftershock at 1pm today. It was 5.5 but centered only 10km from Christchurch so it felt very violent. Shops and schools have closed for the day and more liquefaction has occurred. My house is still OK though.

The 5.5 quake was just a prelude to the big 6 quake we just had at 2:20pm which hit the same area. I fear major damage has been done again. My house is still OK but I think I am shaken up a bit.

Hi Ross, Glad that you and your house are OK after that tremblor less than an hour ago. CNN gave this info... The quake was centered five miles east-southeast of Christchurch at a depth of 6.8 miles, according to USGS. "It was quite an exciting ride," Christchurch Police Acting Inspector Murray Hurst told CNN, adding that there was some damage caused by the quake and a few injuries that were not life-threatening. "Other than the nerves, the impact appears to be minor," he saidI'll keep the people of ChCh and NZ in my thoughts tonight. All my best, Joe

This is just plain scary. Obviously this region is prone to severe earthquakes and will continue to have them on and on, just like we have bad tornadoes in the states.

And Auckland had a tornado, too. When is "mother nature" going to leave New Zealand alone?

Thanks for updating us on this Ross, I am sure it was pretty scary, I read that more buildings have been damaged but hopefully, no serious injuries (Hayley tweeted that her family are OK too). On a BBC radio interview with a NZ Earthquake scientist last night, he said they'd predicted a 25% chance of another magnitude 6 aftershock within 12 months of the February one, well it turned out to be 100% within 4 months so let's hope that's the end of the big ones. And since you posted this, Dave, they've had yet another aftershock — this one measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale. I'm afraid they're not out of the woods yet. Each new quake adds to the cumulative structural damage in the region, some of which may escape notice until it's too late.

Sad to hear that the major earthquakes continue. I wonder how much of CHCH will remain once the shocks are over... Thomas

Sad to hear that the major earthquakes continue. I wonder how much of CHCH will remain once the shocks are over... Thomas Hi Thomas and everyone,in answer to your question Thomas. Not a lot to be brutal about it, the City took a fair hammering from yesterday's so-called aftershocks (I call them something else) and it looks at this stage as though we are about to lose our Cathedral in the square It sustained quite a bit of additional damage and according to reports it is not looking good re saving the Cathedral. Liquefaction is another big problem that has re accured again in places that apparently are worse than the Feb quake. So in a nutshell we are in many ways back to square one. My place in the south/West of Christchurch has to a large extent escaped any damage, so all is OK at my place (Touch Wood ) The next time you visit our shores Thomas, you will see a NEW CHRISTCHURCH style of which has yet to be decided. cheers, Rodders from the shaky City of Christchurch NZ
