Even if it's not in Christchurch after all, maybe Hayley could still sing the national anthem. I don't know if she was going to anyway, but I thought I read somewhere that there was a chance that she would. Or maybe it was just people hoping that she would.

We have just had a 5.1 aftershock in Christchurch which is the biggest for a while and will be the biggest Hayley would have felt since being back in Christchurch. I hope she coped all right. (Occurred at 9:47pm at a 10km depth and 10km east of ChCh).

Today I went back to the movie theatre, where I was when the 22nd Feb quake hit, I suppose it was like the saying goes if you fall off a horse you have to get back on it again. Then I went for a drive for the first time past the CBD and to some of the badly damaged suburbs. We have a word which has been used a lot lately which is munted. It means badly damaged or ruined. Well I could see a lot of munted old brick buildings. The roads are badly damaged with hollows and ridges and silt from the liquefaction piled beside the road especially in the Eastern suburbs.
I also want to mention that Dave Dobbyn who sang with Hayley a few years ago on the In Tune With Nature Tour in NZ and was also at the Christchurch Memorial was on one of the first planes allowed back in Christchurch after the 6.2 quake. He helped at the Welfare centres and played music to the refugees. Shows how kind a person he is.

This is probably a dumb question, but has Hayley experienced very many earthquakes in her lifetime in Christchurch? Of course not as bad as the one they just had, I'm sure. But for me, I've only experienced 2 in my lifetime (which is only a couple years longer than Hayley's). I'm just curious. But I'm sure the recent aftershock must've been scary. The first earthquake I felt was a 5.1. It probably lasted less than 10 seconds, though.

Before September last year I have felt very few earthquakes in Christchurch and none were very big so I doubt Hayley would have felt many.

Hello Libby,
I remember Hayley experienced an earthquake in Taiwan while she was very high up, which must have been very frightening for her.

Oh yes, I do remember that. How big was that one? And right before her most recent trip to Taiwan, there had been a typhoon, too.

Hi everyone, As I know our NZ members will be well aware, all is still not well in Christchurch. I've been wondering what was happening and today, the BBC website has posted a "Diary From Sumner". Here it is, it makes a very interesting and still shocking read, especially with Hayley soon to return there. All in Christchurch is not yet well. The full report is at: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13141491 . There are links to two previous reports in her diary, they make compelling reading for those of us from overseas who cannot really comprehend what it must be like. I'm glad the BBC is doing this, it's all too easy to forget. Dave

Hi Dave yes it probably is easy to forget what we are going through here in Christchurch especially as we are on the other side of the world and that's understandable. However the City is slowly recovering and some of the main streets through the City are now re opening, but it is a slow recovery.
Thanks for posting this article Dave,
Cheers everyone,
Rodders

Don't worry everyone, the world didn't end (at least not in New Zealand), no earthquakes even in Christchurch lol.
I am shortly going to the CBS Stadium in Christchurch to participate in the Telethon to raise funds for Christchurch. It is a 12 hour event held in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland plus events in Sydney, London and Los Angeles.

I wasn't worried about it. And the world isn't going to just suddenly explode and disappear or something. There's a lot more to it than that. After the rapture, the world will still be around for quite a long time. A lot of very bad things will happen, though. Not trying to get into a so-called "religious" discussion. Just saying how I knew that guy was wrong. Anyway, I'm glad there weren't any earthquakes there today. I hope there aren't any again for a very long time.
