Christchurch vs Wellington Charity Cricket Game
Today in Wellington there was a 20/20 game of cricket to raise funds for Christchurch. This included some past NZ cricketers, show biz stars and some of the Hobbit actors. Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) was one umpire while Mark Hadlow (Dori) was the other umpire. Also the most famous Australian spin bowler Shane Warne also played for the Christchurch team. He also bowled one over to NZ Prime Minister John Key which raised $100,000. The game raised $500,000. A Classic All Blacks vs ex Aussies Rugby game in Brisbane raised $500,000. And in Auckland an ex NZ Rugby league vs Aussies raised $150,000.

On Friday 18th March all of Canterbury is having a public holiday so that people can go to a National memorial to be held in Hagley Park. Prince William is going to be there and he is also going to Queensland to see the people affected by the floods plus the families of the Pike River mine disaster. It doesn't sound like Kate is going. Hello Ross and Libby and everyone, We now have what appears to be the first media report stating that Hayley will attend and sing at the Christchurch memorial service on Friday 18th March. In today's News of the World in the UK, Dan Wootton's XS reports: The report implies that Dan Wootton is himself a Kiwi, which might explain why he has the news first, although I have no confirmation from Hayley, Bandana or other sources as yet. The link I have posted asks for a login but I was able to access the report via a Google search for the first sentence. Here is a link to the National Memorial Service details on the earthquake website: canterburyearthquake.org.nz/2011/03/11/national-christchurch-memorial-service-faq/Dave Hi Dave, According to Starbuck, Hayley did a radio interview with Dan Woolton where she confirmed the story. Cheers, Jillian

Hello Jillian and everybody,
I heard Hayley talking to Dan Wootton on LBC (radio) last night, and I can confirm she is flying home to New Zealand for the Memorial Service this week, possibly today. She said she will be there for the next few weeks, so I don't know if she will be back for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust 10th Anniversary Ball. She didn't mention this week's Breaking the Mould Conference either.

Thanks for sharing, Jillian, Richard, Juliette, and everyone! Well, there already is an Auckland one on April 2nd. Since the info about it doesn't mention Hayley, and so far these articles don't mention her attending that particular one, it would seem that she's not going to that one. Who knows, that could easily change before then. Elizabeth Marvelly is the one to help organize it, I think. She's been posting about it on her Facebook. April 2nd is nearly 3 weeks away... so her "next few weeks" could potentially end in time for the Ball. Especially if she's not going to the concert on that date. Just sayin'.

Funny how certain media sources still insist on saying she's "scrapping" her NZ tour, while others say "postponing". On a different note, I like how all these articles are using a wider variety of photos of Hayley, as opposed to the old Treasure/RoD pictures they were mostly all using for a long time. It's just nice to see more current photos of her in the media.

Isn't there a way to listen to the radio interview? I followed the links I found, but it seems that now it's over, it's gone completely. I would've liked to listen to it.

I seem to remember reading somewhere before that John Key liked Hayley Westenra.
