Hello Joe Belinda is quite safe...although I don't know if her house or place of employment was damaged.
Best wishes, Joe Many thanks for your reassurance, good to hear that Belinda is OK. I hope Hayley will also let us know when she has established contact with her friends - this is a very worrying time for everyone and some good news is most welcome. Best wishes Grant

Hello folks,
I've just checked Facebook, and there are at least nineteen members with the name Belinda Hutchison. Our own Belinda is definitely safe.

A book of condolence has been opened in Christchurch Priory in Dorset. It's heartening to know there are so many places round the world called Christchurch and they all seem to be thinking of the one in New Zealand right now.

Hello everyone
Just noticed a couple of interesting tweets to Hayley
I believe this is a 'ladies' event - any of our lady members available to attend?
Best wishes Grant

Hello everyone
Ian has posted the above on Fiona's facebook page - I've listened to the broadcast - there's a good 30 minutes of Fiona with music and some very poignant descriptions of the situation in Christchurch - well worth a listen.
Best wishes Grant

The website www.redcross.org.nz declines donations from overseas. At those hard times it's not a good sign as it can easily be misconstructed that help is not urgently needed. Martin's post mentioned the UK website www.redcross.org.uk/NZEarthquakeThey accept donations from everyone so I donated there. If anyone else had the same problem please use the UK website. Thomas

Hi Thomas,
Yes, Hayley mentioned that site in a tweet. I have already donated.
And one place called Christ Church is where I worship. I wish I was leading worship tomorrow, since I could make something of it, and certainly include Chch in the prayers. Our visitng preacher might or might not do that. But a week tomorrow I am leading, so that will have to do. Perhaps I can get agreement to lauch an appeal within the church, I will certainly try.

The Dean of Christchurch NZ Rev Peter Beck was interviewed on Radio5 live this morning. He explained 15-20 worshippers were killed by falling masonry when the spire collapsed. He said he'd had "a bloody good cry" (his exact words). I'm not a religious person but I have to ask myself, why does God let bad things happen to good people ? That's a tough one to answer.

Well, Jeff, you are leading me into an off topic sermon almost.
All we can do is pray for those affected, and do what we can to help when we get the chance, such as donating to charity appeals to help in particular situations like this one.
To tell you the truth, I had a good cry as well.
End of sermon!

When I heard the terrible news,, I immediately thought of Hayley... But shortly afterwards I saw her Twitter message saying her family was fine, which was certainly relieving. And so was reading here that all of our members in Christchurch seem to be fine... I feel terrbly sorry for those who were killed and injured... Hopefully the ones who are missing will be able to get alive from this disaster.... I am also sorry about Gerald's business and all the damage to the city, but the city can be rebuild, and I am sure their people will get the strength to rebuild their lifes.

It would be great to see photos or videos of the service, especially if Hayley is there. It seems likely she will if she can, especially with the Maori people attending. Seeing all the terror and grief on the survivor's faces and all the devastation was enough to convince me to donate, not to mention that it's affecting Hayley's family. There's a newer member on the official forum who's from Christchurch, named Olivia (she goes by NewZealandMummy). We haven't heard from her yet, but she only posted a few times when she first joined, but she's visited since then. Hopefully as soon as she's able she'll let us know, but more importantly I hope she and her family are all right.
