Hi all,
Today's match should be a doddle...although England have never faced an Algeria team before.
And before that match, the USA take on Slovenia!
Best of luck to all of the teams today!
Joe

I thought Mexico were very entertaining last night and beating France will make the Irish feel a little better. Let's hope South Africa can finish them off in the final match so it will be a case of "Adieu les bleus !!" (I always knew my French A-level would come in handy one day !) They needed a helping hand to get into the tournament so hopefully they'll get a helping hand out of it. Today could be "Fretful Friday" and we need an early goal to settle the nerves. But it's Capello's birthday (can't believe he's 68) so hopefully the team can give him a nice present ? We don't want to go into the final group match needing the other result to go our way.

Thanks for the laugh Jeff. The Maori just beat us at rugby but it was a respectable score 31 to 28

I thought Mexico were very entertaining last night and beating France will make the Irish feel a little better Mexico played well last night and deserved their win. France played very poorly again. I'm not sure about the Irish feeling better though. The Irish players must be kicking themselves, as this poor French side qualified at their expense. The Henry handball shouldn't have even been an issue, as Ireland should've had the game won before extra-time. PS. I just read that Fabio has just turned 64, not 68. Just another year to wait for the free bus-pass then.

Well, Fabio probably feels more like the inverse, 86 now after that pathetic performance. It was embarassing! Now we know how our French friends feel!

Hi all Well what a day of football! I take back what I said a few days ago about the excellent refereeing . What was the deal with all of the yellow cards and the red card for Germany? The USA were denied our game winning goal by a so-called foul. Algeria played a super match without a doubt. Bit surprised that Capello didn't play Green at goal, Terry and Rooney never got a good turn at the ball. Hmmmphhh there is still hope Joe

Joe Poor England. They are now in danger of not reaching the next stage. NZ take on Italy on Sunday ( fingers crossed).

Given the way that the European teams are playing, I'd fancy NZ to get a result against Italy!! It's horrible, being ashamed of your own national team for your national game.

Well that was the longest 90 minutes of my life. I've had more fun in a dentist's chair !! I've never seen Prince William look so bored as well but as President of the FA he'd probably point out that we have maintained our unbeaten start to the tournament ! After Fretful Friday we could have Woeful Wednesday. IF England beat Slovenia we're through to the next stage but that is a huge if IF. If we draw and the US beat Algeria then Slovenia and the US go through. If both games are drawn then things get more complicated. Slovenia would win the group on 5 points and England and US would have 3 points each and an identical goal difference. The number of goals scored would come into play. At the moment we have 1 to the USA's 3 so England would need to draw 3-3 with Slovenia and the USA 0-0 with Algeria. I think I've got that right but am quite happy to be corrected.
As so often in the past, this England team are guilty of cruelty to their supporters. Watching them is a supreme act of masochism made only slightly more bearable by seeing the Germans miss their first World Cup penalty in 28 years. To misquote Kipling, let's hope Rooney, Gerrard, Terry et al can keep their heads when those around them are losing theirs and blaming it on them. If not we can all put our flags away for another 4 years.

Well done to the fan who invaded the England team's dressing room. The captain opened the door in his football kit, which seemed a very peculiar place to have a door! The fan appears in court next week, but if the captain gives evidence, it should be an open and shut case. The fan will probably end up in the slammer! Richard

Strange no one has commented on the shafting that the U s took in that game yesterday. I could be wrong but I think the deck is stacked against us. Heard a lot of crying when we tied England; but no one seems too to be too upset about the preposterous call made by that sleepy eyed ref that denied the U S a well deserved victory over Slovenia.
