Germany always find a way to peak at the right time Graham Don't worry about the Germans. They've peaked too soon !! As for the England v USA game, just remember England also drew their first game in 1966. All the same, I'd like to see David James in goal, Joe Cole in midfield and Jermain Defoe up front with Rooney. If we don't win the group we play the Germans in the last 16. If we do it's probably Ghana, a better option ! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

That was a shock result with Germany's 4 goals over Australia The Netherlands were brilliant earlier...helped by an own goal. One starts to wonder if that new type of ball might be an issue---taking all those wonky bounces etc. It's almost if the lads are kicking a beachball around the pitch. Hopefully FIFA are looking into it. I've heard they are looking to ban those vuvuzelas...I'm hoping at least when we are out of the group stages. I rather think the bees are attraced to my televison! I think also that the referees are doing a brilliant job. Being quite consistent with most of the calls...even the assistant refs with their offside calls. That's my commentary for now! Joe

Paraguay drawing with Italy. Didn't expect that. And could have won except for, wait for it, a goalkeeping error.
I think it would have been unjust id Italy had lost theough, they were the better team for much of the game.

Martin D If you look at Paraguay's record it was not that surprising.... odds on they will both go through.... Graham

So how has NZ done? That's the main reason I was asking. I'm only interested because of Hayley!

Hi Libby, New Zealand are playing their first match against Slovakia tomorrow morning, 4:30 AM your time. ESPN has been great in replaying all the day's matches in the afternoon and evening. I would imagine Hayley will be watching the live match during her lunch ! Best wishes, Joe

Italy were rubbish in the first half and had no finishing ability in the second. I was very disappointed by them, honestly.
That said, only Germany have really lived up to expectation, so far. By far the best team that has played to date, in fact.
All things can change in a WC of course, and there's plenty of time for the other teams to settle. England need to play Joe Cole, though, whatever else we do. He's easily our best midfielder and arguably our best player full stop. I have no idea why he didn't start against the US.

Hayley will be pleased. 93rd minute equaliser for NZ against Slovakia,1-1, their first ever World Cup point. NZ doesn't even have a professional football league! Nice one, fellas! Dave

I was listening on the Radio during the lunch break at work and they reckoned New Zealand should have scored a couple of minutes before they did........They could have won !
