As already said, it was really a wonderful evening as it was two years ago. Perhaps there will be another opportunity for a concert in the Peak District in the future. Bye, Karsten

I hope so, because I'll certainly be there next time Hayley's at the Opera House.

Cheers, Dave. It sounds like you've taken the creaky seats out! Grant - is that your "Whoa!" at the end? I think it is. Kind regards Colin

Kind regards Colin I suppose you would look a bit odd going around the seats with a can of WD-40 or 3-IN-ONE OIL checking for "SQUEEKERS" there were quite a few at Bangor in Northern Ireland as well

On August 22 at the Buxton Opera House in Buxton, England, I had the great honor and privilege of meeting Hayley, after her memorable concert. I loved the show, which she delivered to a packed house. My favorite piece was Wuthering Heights. I also loved Songbird, her rendition of which would make Christine McVie herself proud. At the informal Meet and Greet, my greeting to Hayley, "I feel I am in the presence of greatness," pretty much set the tone for our talk. It being apparent from my accent, or lack of same, that I was not English, Hayley asked where we were from, and I told her, California. Probably the only Yanks there. Hayley seemed quite taken and nearly overwhelmed by my honest and heartfelt adulation. As I discussed with other fans at the show, I don't think she herself appreciates the singularly incredible talent she posesses. Unlike so many stars who are full of themselves, Hayley is self-effacing and full of modesty. When I said to her, "You're one in a billion," the look on her face said "Who, me?" (Yes, you!) I told Hayley that I thought there was a profound unexpressed need in the world for what she brings to the scene. I truly believe that people are weary of the darkness, negativity, and anger expressed so repeatedly in the popular media and popular music today and long for the kind of beauty and elegance, grace and goodness, that she brings. I also believe that the need for these things transcends the trends of popular music and popular culture. I believe that by filling this need Hayley can be a force for positive change in the world, a force for good. I'm sure that's what she wants to do with her life. Hayley was lovely, gracious to a fault, and generously giving of her time. It is an experience I will never forget.

Hi Glenn,
You moved your post just as I was trying to reply to it and point you at this thread.
I was only a few feet from you both when that photo was taken. Glad it came out so well.
That is a fantastic first post. You have just managed to express very eloquently what I have been trying to say about Hayley for the last six years. She has a wonderful gift, and is just so radically different from any other artist I have ever come across. It took her 10 seconds, the first time I ever heard her (live) to know that she is very very special and that I would be a lifelong fan.
Anyway, a very warm welcome to HWI from the English East Midlands. There is lots to interest you here on HWI, starting I'm sure with this thread which will bring back happy memories. I'm sure you will find much else as well, and also, one Hayley concert is never enough.
I've always said that Hayley is an artist you have to see perform live. And yes she is a lovely, sweet, modest person, who we all love to bits. I hope to see you at future concerts, and who knows, she may even perform in California someday.
Best Wishes
Martin D

Hi Glenn First of all a very big welcome to the forum. Your opening post is very heartfelt and reflects the feelings we all experienced when meeting Hayley for the first time.
It was in fact me who moved your post here as it relates to the Buxton concert but don't worry as the forum is a big site to navigate when using it for the first time.
Best wishes Martin

Hi Martin. So it was you Martin! Hope you are well. When I tried to post my reply I was told that the thread no longer existed. But fortunately I found Glenn's post here, so nothing much was lost. I hope Glenn manages to find out where it is, perhaps you should PM him if you haven't already. And now he is going to get confused by the Two Martins Problem All the Best, Martin D

Hello Glen and welcome to the forum from Central England.
I was also at the concert in Buxton and saw you talking to Hayley - very glad you got to meet her and have your photo taken with her - she is a remarkable young lady isn't she? You observed her pretty much as we see her - very down to earth and with no airs and graces.
I have been privileged to see Hayley perform many times and every one is special in it's own way, but some just stand out as being extra special and Buxton this year was one such concert - not only for us but for Hayley herself - she made that clear by her choice of songs, some of which she hadn't sung for quite some time.
All in all a great night and one that none of us will forget in a hurry!
Best wishes Grant

who knows, she may even perform in California someday. According to Hayley, that could be "hopefully next year", via a fairly recent Tweet. And hopefully Seattle won't be left out, either.
