Just read that very belatedly, ITV are going to give Susan her own Christmas special (they had better get their skates on! Perhaps not, there's no ice here at present. ). Martin

Martin Sunday 13 Dec 9.30pm ITV straight after the X Factor Final which will guarantee Boyle the biggest TV audience of the year. I shall be watching however since it is an inspirational story how an ordinary woman with a cat and council house became a superstar. She has a decent voice. I just think there are others better. Looking at the charts, clearly most people don't agree with me. That's fine. I'm used to being in a minority. To each his own.

The real appeal of Susan Boyle is not her voice, it's her story. She's the ordinary Everywoman who has lived her life in obscurity while secretly longing to show the world what she can do. Then she got her chance. Many fairytales are based on a similar premise, and the lure of the fairytale made real is the true attraction of Susan Boyle. Buying her album and supporting her makes us part of her fairytale, and in some ways we are all her - or wish to be, in that we all have talents we'd like the world to acknowledge us for. It's why you and millions of others will be watching the show, too

Hi Ross and everyone, Yes she is an amazing phenomenon, last Sunday she became the biggest selling album of the year in the UK too, passing the million mark in 21 days. She becomes only the third artist to achieve this feat in that short a time in the UK and of course, is already the biggest selling UK artist of the year. I see that she's 8 x platinum in NZ, which is almost "Hayley-esque"! Reluctantly, I decided to watch the one hour Susan Boyle special on UK TV last week, as I have refused to buy into all the hype, though I know she has a nice voice and an amazing story. Well, I found it to be a most enjoyable and very moving programme, at times I even found myself getting a little tearful. I am won over, it's a wonderful story. Cowell seems to be chastened by the mistakes that were made early on and hopefully none will be repeated. Dave

I see that she's 8 x platinum in NZ, which is almost "Hayley-esque"! Dave Hi Dave. Susan is an amazing phenomenon here too. She came to Japan and she appeared on NHK-TV on the final day of 2009. She sang “ I dreamed a dream” and she had a big applause. I did not record it though. I found it very interesting to see that she's recorded a version of "Wings to Fly" which of course appeared on HSJS1. It's a bonus track on Susan's Japanese version of her album. You can hear it on YouTube. I would post it but I can't remember if that is allowed since it's a full song. It has different English lyrics (of course) and isn't as good as Hayley's version. (of course ) Hi 1littlegirl. Her CD of Japanese version is sold well and selling more than 50,000. It was ranked 5th at Oricon Chart of last month. Many say the bonus track “Wings to fly” is the best among her songs. Paul Potts's story as a salesman of cell phone was known to many Japanese but his CD was not well recognized by people here. But Susan was recognized well both the story and the CD. This may be partly because “Wings to fly” was included, I imagine. Best wishes. Maya

Please forgive me for posting about Susan Boyle again. I am very happy for this woman for her success. But don't you think every average Joe or Jane is responsible for her success. People tend to support this type of mediocre talent. Granted she's pretty good but really do you think she will stand the test of time or do you think she is just having her 15 minutes of fame. Hope she last forever but i doubt she will.

Ouch, that is close to 1/1000 of the world Population... Quite amazing. Well, this just proves the power of television and how a "sensational" story can be more important than quality in promotion of an artist (well, I mean, she is good, but... she is definately far away from the best voices). Hmm... her album is officially considered Classical? If so, I guess that means that Hayley's Pure is no more the biggest selling classical album of the century, with its 4 millions.

It's a middle of the road/easy listening pop album, in my opinion. Pure is the biggest selling classical album of the 21st Century so far but only in the UK. Cheers, Dave

A while back I saw Susan Boyle on the Oprah Winfrey show. She sang a beautiful song 'Whi I was Born to Be'. I just loved it! I wasn't a huge fan, I only liked her version of 'I Dreamed a dream', but this one has hit me and I truely find it a wonderful song! Glad to see a very meaningful person, singing a meaningful song, in a world of glamour and perfectionism Sharon
