Hi,
I was looking for a Susan Boyle thread, but i couldn't find it.... only Britain got Talent 2009, so i decided to start one. Of course, i saw, and heard everything about Susan, when she was in Britain got Talent. I was suprised, how she became so famous in such a short time.....was it a hype?? Today i found her album, which will be released coming monday, in our local record/cd store,(don't know why it was already there) and decided to buy one. After listening to it, i have to say, it is a wonderful album. Reading the newspapers, this album ,will be a huge succes, because so many copies were pre ordered before the release. I really hope she can make her dreams come true, and starts a wonderful career, and NOT that the hype is turning her into a One hit wonder.

Hi Joyce, I thought there was already a thread about Susan... I'm surprised there isn't one...well until now then! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI loved to see her new make over. She looks much better. I really liked her version of 'I Dreamed a Dream'. I watched it many times on Youtube. But I would not buy her CD though...I barely buy any Cds actually. I download the songs I want/need. I hope you'll enjoy her album though, and for all the others who bought it. She's a great singer! Sharon

Hi Joyce and Sharon,
Sue has asked me to buy the CD, and I will look for it locally and buy online in the unlikely event that I can't find it. Susan is certainly a wonderful singer.
I always like to have the CDs. If I download the music, I will usually burn it onto a CD to play in the car. So why not just buy the CD?

i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Well I got Susan's new CD today and I am impressed. I think Simon Cowell is on to a winner here, I wouldn't be surprised if the album gets to the top of the pop charts. This is certainly a pop album and surprisingly Susan does a very good job at the songs she chose. I think she sings a lot better on the album than when she was under pressure singing in BGT. My favourites were Wild Horses, I Dreamed A Dream (of course), Proud, Who I was Born To Be and The End Of The World. My least favourite would be Daydream Believer (should be left to The Monkees lol). So I recommend getting this album. Wild Horses Rolling Stones I Dreamed A DreamCry Me A River sung originally by Ella Fitzgerald but more recently by Justin Timberlake How Great Thou ArtYou'll See Madonna Daydream Believer The Monkees Up To The Mountain Patty Griffin but sung more recently by Kelly Clarkson Amazing GraceWho I Was Born To Be written by Audra Mae for Susan Proud Heather Small from M People The End Of The World sung originally by Skeeter Davis Silent Night

It's a good album, but I agree with Ross - Daydream Believer should definitely be left to The Monkees! Susan improves Wild Horses out of all measure, but her version of DB just doesn't quite work.
I like the album a lot, but I'm not sure I love it. Susan seems to be someone who sings better for an audience than she does in a studio, though.
Very listenable, but she's no Hayley (Of course!)

From Music Week today: As expected, certainly in the UK and perhaps everywhere. This is what happens when someone with an unexpectedly nice voice who doesn't fit the stereotype and who is hyped unto the skies finally releases an album. All these things together will always sell more than a better voice without the other aspects. Always have, always will. But I wish her well, I think this is great - yes it's a pop record but it's not the usual kind of stuff we get at the top of the chart, where it is certain to be. Well done to Susan! Dave

I've never jumped on the Susan Boyle band wagon, and her album is certainly not on the top of my list of priorities when it comes to album buying. I might listen to it eventually.
I've always thought her over-hyped - I've never been particularly interested in her voice, and I remember readily disliking a live performance of hers (too long ago to remember now), but it's only fair play to Susan, and I wish her the best of luck. It is inspiring, at least, that someone at her time of life has finally made the big time. You can only be happy for her.

I've always thought her over-hyped - I've never been particularly interested in her voice I agree on that. Not a huge fan of Susan, but I found it very interesting to see that she's recorded a version of "Wings to Fly" which of course appeared on HSJS1. It's a bonus track on Susan's Japanese version of her album. You can hear it on YouTube. I would post it but I can't remember if that is allowed since it's a full song. It has different English lyrics (of course) and isn't as good as Hayley's version. (of course )

(of course ) Hi Girls Well I'm happy for Miss Boyle; but it burns me up to see so many of these mediocre performers attain so much ill deserved fame. Then the real special ones like our Hayley has to work her b--- off to try and make it. Although I think Simon Cowell is a first class jerk I have to give him credit for being able to tap into the ears of the tone deaf general population and make a lot of money. I am particularly irritated at the feigned facial expressions he make when he sees one of these wannabes perform. What he is really thinking is how he can hype this poor soul into a cash cow. Man I'm really being a stinker today aren't I. Larry

Ah, don't worry Larry -- I had a little bit of an internal mini tantrum today when I found out that Hayley's Christmas CD isn't being stocked by almost every CD store in Australia -- I looked at the CD racks and Hayley outclasses so many of them ...
Anway....

Man I'm really being a stinker today aren't I. Larry Not at all Larry, Quite fair Comment. Susan is a good singer, not a great or exceptional singer, I would rather listen to Susan than listen to nothing. She is a lot better than a lot of the material we are constantly barraged with every day by the commercial music industry. Simon gets some dubious product cheap , re wraps it and sells it as "Best Quality" "Top Shelf" . I went in to our local Tesco Supermarket the other night. 3 or 4 "Facings " of Susan. Not one Winter Magic. Not one Camilla. Not one Rhydian. Do we have lousy taste in music , or does everyone else ?

Hi Comet, No, We all have AWESOME taste in music! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I just wish more people got to hear the singers you listed in your post. I think of the amount of enjoyment Hayley gives me and I wish that more people had the chance to experience that themselves. Discovering Hayley completely revolutionised the landscape of my music tastes and really opened the door to a heap of other artists.

I really should be doing some work, and I type rather slowly. But this might be "Nail on the head" we do like to think we have "good taste" no matter what the field ART WINE CLOTHES MUSIC CARS Take your pick. everyone likes to think they have good taste. even the bloke in the white runners and the tracksuit that looks like a dodgy drug dealer thinks he has good taste. The old guy in the sports car. The young guy on the big bike. So : "Birds of a feather flock together" and the internet and forums and the like just make the flocking easier. But what is "Good Taste" ? it must depend on your culture and background or what you aspire to be. Consider Michael Jackson
