Hi Jillian and everyone I don't normally listen to samples before I get the CD so as not to spoil the surprise. I made an exception with this one as I know most of the carols anyway. I particularly like Hayley's "Veni Veni Emanuelle" and "The Coventry Carol" I have to say though, Hayley sounds absolutely wonderful!! Best wishes Grant Snap!! The arrangements for these two songs are particularly good as indeed for Corpus Christi Carol. Also, the album cover picture is part of the same photoshoot used for the new Winter Magic Tour flyer. There's no US version, they're just selling the imports on the US amazon site.

Oh, never mind, maybe you're right, since it doesn't say import on that page. I'm not holding my breath about it, though.

Hi Joe and Libby,
I expect it to be an import of the UK edition. River of Dreams is available for the same price, and I have always assumed it to not be a US release of the album. I may be wrong on both accounts, though.

But it does not say import anywhere on that page. I looked at River of Dreams to compare. RoD says [Import] right next to the title, and under Product Details it says Format: Import. It does not say this on the Winter Magic page at all. So, either they haven't updated all the details right, or this really is a U.S. version. Like I said, I won't get my hopes up too high, but I am feeling encouraged by this. If it does turn out to be for the U.S., I will definitely buy it, even if there's nothing different on it. I have decided to always buy Hayley's U.S. releases, no matter what.

I liked River and Veni Veni Emmanuel, especially, too. I didn't like that they cut it off just before "fly" in River, but I suppose I can wait till early October. It was hard for me to tell about Corpus Christi Carol, since I don't know it, and there wasn't much to go on with that clip. The same with the coventry carol. Oh, well.
I wonder if the reason they had such a big list to start out with was that Hayley gave a list of all her favorite songs, and they just narrowed it down to ones she especially wanted to do. Or, maybe, just maybe, some of the others will be on the U.S. and NZ versions! I would think the U.S. version would need a few more familiar tunes than what we're seeing so far. But, of course, Enya didn't have very many on hers, but you expect anything from her to be different.

Well, I see that it's price is similar to that of River of Dreams, so maybe they forgot to say that it's an import? I wish there was some way to tell.

I've now retitled this thread 'Winter Magic - Japanese edition' and moved it to the Winter Magic sub-board.

Thanks for posting the link to the audio samples, Jilian. Hayley's voice just gets better and better. I really enjoyed the clip of "The Little Road to Bethlehem"; I haven't heard that song before.
It's so nice to know that this album will be released in the US. I'll have to start building my Christmas wishlist now!!

Hi everyone, I'm considering coughing up the money for this one ... after feeling left out with by not having the other 2 Japanese releases, I'm not sure I can handle it again! I'd like HSJS and HSJS2 as well, but it'll cost me a small fortune... Why oh why is the Japanese currency valued so high? Would someone please be able to refer me to discussions on here about the best way to order the Japanese cds? I know we've discussed this at length before. What kind of shipping did everyone get? I'm trying to keep my costs down, but I don't want to be 50 years old before it arrives. Cheers, Jillian

I just use the normal Air mail and it normally only takes 4 days to arrive in NZ so is very quick service.

Thanks for the advice, Ross! All ordered!! Something to look forward to! If this works well, I might think of getting the other ones -- but will have to save some more money before then!

I've now retitled this thread 'Winter Magic - Japanese edition' and moved it to the Winter Magic sub-board. Richard Thanks, I hadn't realized they were separate. I usually click on the most recent post in a board first, so I just thought any that were related to this album were all the same thread. Thanks for fixing it.

There are more photos on Amazon. I think it's safe to say this is a U.S. version. I do wish they'd list the tracks, but we'll probably have to wait till November. They might not know for sure yet, anyway. I suppose this means we'll need a new thread for this version, too? And then one for NZ, Canada, Australia, Taiwan...
