Jane Jones the presenter was surprised that Hayley didn't win (the Anvil Chorus won). Well Jane, if you'd bothered to actually name Hayley on the voting page, I'm sure she would have been number 1 ! Well said Dave! I've just looked at today's Most Wanted chart, and it doesn't say what was at No.10! Richard 'Twas Charpentier (no idea *what* Charpentier!). They opnly seem to list the Winners actually played... and they didn't play it. For Friday's show, I see they list two Hayley possibilities - Orff, Carmina Burana (Hayley's In Trutina?) and Merchant of Venice, Film Score (Hayley's Bridal Ballad?). In both cases there are several other possibilities so I don't know if we should do this one or not...

Hello Dave! I think these are both long shots, but the Merchant of Venice film score could be the better bet, with "Bridal Ballad" being on both "Odyssey" and the bonus CD edition of "Pure". I've voted for it anyway, but we'll just have to see what happens. Bye for now, Richard

I agree with Richard that 'The Merchant of Venice' film score is the more likely. It has my vote too. If our assumption is wrong but Orff's 'Carmina Burana' is Hayley's version of 'In Trutina', then we will have voted against her. If only they would name the artists, the results could be vastly different. Roger

I have just looked at the results for today's programme.... No 3 Orff: Carmina Burana No 7 Pook: Merchant of Venice Unfortunately, we still don't know if either of them were Hayley. Did anyone hear the programme? If so, do tell. Roger

Yes!
That was the song Anna was supposed to have performed last year on the same show in Germany on which Hayley performed Wuthering Heights ("Sunday Night Classics" on ZDF German TV). Alas, Anna was not able to attend that show because of family reasons, so Ilike the chance of listening to it.
PS In my turn, I have obtained some original material of the European Song Festival Contest, including the 1958 winning entry from Italy (Volare!), Cliff Richard's "Congratulations" from 1968 (it came 2nd), and two other personal favorites of mine, "Eres Tu" from the Spanish group Mocedades (2nd in 1973, when Cliff came in 3rd with "Power to all our friends") and Nicole from Germany (1982), perfroming "Ein bisschen Frieden" (This song won by the largest margin ever in the history of the Eurovison Song Festival Contest.)
I haven't digitised these (I have them on VCR) but if people are interested ...

Gerrit Hi Gerrit... here you go - 1.2 MB, 64 kbps, Anna PS In my turn, I have obtained some original material of the European Song Festival Contest, including the 1958 winning entry from Italy (Volare!), Cliff Richard's "Congratulations" from 1968 (it came 2nd), and two other personal favorites of mine, "Eres Tu" from the Spanish group Mocedades (2nd in 1973, when Cliff came in 3rd with "Power to all our friends") and Nicole from Germany (1982), perfroming "Ein bisschen Frieden" (This song won by the largest margin ever in the history of the Eurovison Song Festival Contest.) I haven't digitised these (I have them on VCR) but if people are interested ... Gerrit Well, that depends! It's a long shot but if by any chance you have a video of Gigliola Cinquetti's winning song in the 1964 Eurovision contest, I'd move mountains to persuade you to part with a copy! The song is "Non Ho L'Eta' Per Amarti" and I have the original single, on vinyl i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif but no video of it I am compelled to take issue with you regarding the song with the "largest margin ever in the history of the Eurovision Contest". I believe that it's actually Gigliola Cinquetti from 1964, if scores are adjusted for the different points systems used over the years. I will explain, but as I tend to ramble on a bit, I've started a new thread here under Other Music. Cheers, Dave

Hello Dave! Thank you for the recording of Anna Netrebko. I enjoyed it, but I prefer Hayley's version of "O Mio Babbino Caro", which I say they should have played because it's the version that's highest in the Classic FM chart! Congratulations on your 1,000th post! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI'll be next! Best Wishes, Richard

YAY! Congratulations on joining me here in the millennium chamber, Dave. It was getting kinda lonely here! Perhaps somebody should post a regular table to show the current weeks highest poster to this forum. Now let me see..... [thinks]..... Who do we know who is good at compiling charts? Umm! Natasha? Gerrit? Rich... Nah, can't think of anyone! Off topic? Me? Never! You see, Richard has threatened to be the next to reach the 1,000 mark. That makes everybody else's posts the "MOST WANTED"!.... URGENTLY!!! Roger

Well, I am not going to post 652 posts in the next 30 minutes, just to beat Richard to it. On posting this message, that's exactly the number of posts I need to get there ....
Richard, why don't you post an odd baker's dozen or so soon (you're up to 988 as I post this - 100 more than 888, which is when I drew attention to a threatening draw between Dave, Roger and yourself), so this issue can be put to rest?
Gerrit
P.S. My apologies in advance to those who read this message half a year from now - by that time the numbers mentioned here will be so different, you won't understand anymore what this is all about. (Unless Roger, Richard, Dave and I go to sleep for just on 6 months ...)
Cheers

Hello Roger, Dave and Gerrit! If we all go to sleep for six months we won't be able to vote for Hayley when she's in the Classic FM Most Wanted voting list! I've used my 991st post to steer this thread back on topic! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard
