Faryl does indeed sound amazing singing Ave Maria but having heard Hayley sing it, I am always a little disappointed listening to other singers because Hayley just sounds so perfect she leaves no room for others to impress.
Much as I love Faryl, she still has some way to go to reach Hayley level yet.
Could be worse, though. Who'd ever dare try to record a new version of Dark Waltz?

I don't think I like mezzosopranos, then.
I think what I'm saying is that if it weren't for Hayley Westenra, I probably wouldn't care about most classical songs much at all! Songs I probably would've been slightly bored by before I like better. For example, I'd heard Sarah Brightman's and Charlotte Church's versions of In Trutina and thought it was one of the more boring songs they sang. Actually, I even thought that about it on Hayley's album Pure at first, too. But after hearing her sing it on the Live from New Zealand DVD, I thought it was very beautiful and have loved it ever since. Her voice was so exceptionally beautiful on the DVD. In the version on Pure, her voice still had a little of that yawning quality that I didn't enjoy as much.
