Hello everybody. It appears that Hayley, Jonathan Ansell and Katherine Jenkins will be taking part in this year's Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. I'll quote part of a BBC Press Release dated 15th September 2008. Live coverage of the Royal British Legion's annual Festival Of Remembrance, in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family. With the massed bands of the Household Division, the Band of HM Royal Marines, the Band of the Parachute Regiment, the RAF Squadronaires and the Queen's Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force who are joined by Katherine Jenkins, Hayley Westenra and Jonathan Ansell. The Lesson is read by HRH The Earl of Wessex.
Thanks to Di for the tip-off. Richard

According to the Jonathan Ansell forum, Jonathan has said that he will be singing HTTH at the function plus "a new duet with Hayley". Some reports have said Russell Watson will be there too, but this may be a mistake. There is a lot of speculation about what the "new duet" will be, since their previous duets are not quite appropriate for a function like this. Of course, they may not know themselves yet, and it may be kept under raps until the day. That Jonathan will sing HTTH is petty predictable. That was a great choice of song.

From Digiguide Details of the BBC TV "Live Coverage" mentioned in Richard's post above do not yet appear to have been released, there are two empty slots in the schedules for 8th November as follows: BBC2 - 1425 to 1730 BBC1 - 2105 to 2240. Edit: Found it! www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/tv/wk46/sat.shtml#sat_festHow many times now will Hayley have performed before the Queen of New Zealand (and of England and quite a few other places )? Clearly, Hayley feels very much at home in the UK and seems to enjoy singing for her Queen And why is it that now every time I see Jonathan's name, Hayley's doesn't seem to be far? Do you think they will be duetting again? Stephany

Hello Stephany! There's a strong possibility that Jonathan and Hayley will sing a new duet at the Festival of Remembrance. According to the Jonathan Ansell forum, Jonathan has said that he will be singing HTTH at the function plus "a new duet with Hayley". Nothing will be certain until the day, of course. Love, Richard xxx

I am so looking forward to this on Saturday. A duet with Hayley and Jonathan is always fabulous. And Here's to the Heroes will be very poignant. It will be bitter sweet for me as my late Dad was in the RAF and I always watch the Festival of Remembrance and get very affected with memories of him - it will be even more touching to hear Here's to the Heroes and think of him. Love Melody xx

Hi All, I'm currently listening to the 'BBC Radio 2' coverage of this event and I've just listened to the duet which was performed by Hayley and Jonathan. I'll not spoil the surprise for those people who are waiting to see the BBC1 TV coverage, but I can tell you from what I understand, the duet is a new piece which was specially recorded for the event! Let me tell you... It is something rather special!!! Roger, brace yourself... Hayley & Jonathan also sing one of your favourite songs!!! Andrew

Hello Andrew and everyone, I have this new duet (with the first verse sung solo by Hayley) recorded, uploaded and ready for the link to be posted. But I won't do so for the same reason - in case it spoils the surprise if it's broadcast on TV within the next hour or so. So let's all respect this, please - don't spoil the surpise for TV viewers! It is worth noting that the first part of the Radio 2 performance (which includes Hayley) was recorded at the afternoon ceremonies - this evening's not yet having taken place! Hayley's (all too short) performance? Fabulous! Edit: Oh I see now what they did! Radio 2 broadcast only Hayley's solo verse... and later, a solo verse of something else by Jonathan! Fabulous TV performance (complete)!!! Recording later... Cheers, Dave

Hi Martin and everyone,
Give me an hour or two, I think it's important to do this performance justice and to put it in the correct context.
It was very, very moving and i'm not going to post the audio highlights now, that's incomplete and will only be a spoiler for the real thing.

Hi Dave,
I agree, very moving. Brings home the real human cost of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. I can see now why Hayley was so deeply affected by her experience in Basra. I think Hayley and Jonathan's performance needs to be seen in context.

WOW, just saw Jonathan Ansell singing another song "Here's to the Heroes" And at the end of the song Hayley was there with him, this time in the black and gold dress.
And now we have just had the story of the soldier who received the George Cross for throwing himself onto an exploding grenade.
And now Blake, singing "In Flanders Feilds" I think Thisw is quite something!
