Hi Grant, What can I say. I turned 70 in December. Make that Kate Bush. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Larry Thank you, Larry for reassuring me I am not the oldest HWI member! Clearly I am still a spring chicken! Peter S.

Clearly I am still a spring chicken! Hi Peter, I cannot help but wonder to which particular spring you are referring? Oh well, this thread is called 'River of Dreams'! Roger

Hi Peter, Yes I served the wine at the last supper. Oh yes, I almost forgot. I spilled Judas' wine on him.

To avoid the possibility of someone (me, for example!), posting to the wrong thread, I have now locked those which related to the cancelled events. New thread exist for all new dates.

Hi Peter and Larry.
I turned 70 in November. Sadly of course I had to forgo my birthday present.
Still not long now for the Bridgewater Hall.. Better late than never and best wishes for Hayley' continued good health.
Den.

Hi Denis, Happy belated birthday. I had a front row center seat to see Hayley in Manchester last Nov. when she became ill. Unfortunately I can't make Manchester this year; however I will be in Reading, Oxford, and London.

On Tour With Hayley
Well, it’s felt like it at times – seven concerts in 25 days – what a rollercoaster ride it has been. So many memories and experiences, it’s hard to keep track of everything that’s happened and it’s been even harder to keep things functioning normally at home – an interesting logistical exercise that’s been!
In the midst of all that, I was still sorting out posters after Hayley signed them at Bradford. That was one highlight I shall remember for a long time; Hayley struggling out of the stage door loaded up with her own bags and my heavy tube of posters – bless her beautiful heart!
But, despite the logistical difficulties, it has been an amazing experience and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and for that I have to thank the people involved – all of them. From friends new and old here for their company before, during and after the concerts to Hayley and her team of musicians, managers and technicians. All have made these past weeks very special indeed.
For many of us, going to a concert with Hayley is far more than ‘just a concert’. Some of us like to be there to see Hayley arrive at the venue and it doesn’t matter if she’s in a rush and only has time for a quick “Hi guys!”, we know she’s arrived safe along with everyone else on the tour. Generally there’s time for a brief chat and we’re happy.
Everyone involved in both the River of Dreams tour and the Valentines tour have been just brilliant and special thanks are due to tour managers/drivers Richard and Dave who have found time to be accommodating and helpful to “Hayley's regulars” throughout.
Special thanks also to those of Hayley's management team that we have seen during the tour and who also look after us when they are able. Some of us are particularly indebted to Steve Abbott who single handedly saved the day on the service deck at Cardiff.
To Raven, Andy and Tim for your superb musical accompaniment – Hayley is very lucky to have you on her team but then I am sure she knows that!
And Hayley, you are an absolute treasure. I have loved every moment that you have been on stage and your fantastic choice of songs old and new have resulted in more than a few shed tears. The subtle changes to the set list during the tour has also added a touch of mystery and a few very nice surprises along the way.
For me there have been many highlights and I have to mention Hayley's delightful exit from centre stage during several of the Valentines concerts when she was carried off by Jonathan – pure magic! One duet, particularly, will always be a favourite from that tour “Amigos Para Siempre”.
Personal favourite moments have to be hearing Hayley sing in Japanese live on stage for the first time; the look on Hayley's face when I told her the total amount raised from the poster sale and, topping the list, the time spent with Hayley after the concert in Cardiff. Not a celebrity chatting to fans, but five friends being themselves. Memories don’t get much better than that!
Thank you all so much! See you again soon
Love and best wishes Grant

Hi Grant I entirely agree with your sentiments as the last five weeks has been an incredible and enjoyable experience. Not just ROD but also the Valentines tour. The next few months are going to have a certain "emptiness".
However, ROD is not yet complete and I look forward to Leamington now at the end of May.

I have to say this tour has been one of the most enjoyable I've ever read about; the photos, the songs she sang, and even the musicians have been wonderful. In the past, I felt that Hayley's back-up musicians were quite lacking, only a piano and violin. I saw videos of concerts in 2006, and the backing music was too much like a school recital to me. It's been so nice to finally see her a decent set of musicians behind her. I'm certainly not saying Fiona and Ian weren't good musicians, but it's just not a very impressive set for an international singing star like Hayley.

Oh wow ! I loved the concerts with Ian and Fiona.
But probably because I was at them and they were the only ones I could get to.
I loved the simplicity of the whole arrangement, Derry and Belfast were magic !

For me, the less musicians Hayley has around her the better. Not to decry the efforts of the fine musicians that have backed her of course, it is just personal preference. Most of all, I love to hear her sing a capella. A small band of musicians to me is preferable to a full orchestra where Hayley is concerned. My favourites of late have tended to be just Hayley and a single guitar (Songbird, I know you by heart) or with just a piano. Most of HSJA is just Ian and Fiona and it is fabulous. The more backing there is, the more it distracts from Hayley.
