Oh, good. I was starting to get worried.
In my experience, respiratory infections like colds, flu, etc. can tend to hang on inside your chest for a while, even if you're mostly better otherwise. This can very much affect your singing voice, and can make your voice break and just make you cough a lot. So who knows, maybe this was the reason. There's no way to know, though. Maybe some of the people going to the next concerts will be able to find out from her.

Grant, I don't know if you ever got round to showing Hayley "the way to Barrow" but I have been having a bit of fun with Microsoft. River of Dreams MapClick on the Load button (bottom left). Ok the message. Have fun. If you double click on any marker pin you can either "home in" on the venue (using the standard zoom keys) or see Aerial View or Bird's eye (some remote venues do not have Bird's eye View yet). If you find the venue Bird's Eye you can then rotate the picture to find the stage door. If you go to maximum zoom you might even see Richard waiting. If you are not yet familiar with "Virtual Earth", you can also scroll anywhere you like and find a Bird's Eye view of your own nest! This should keep you all quiet until Boxing Day. P.S. You can have the Valentines' version tomorrow.

I have a concert question, but I don't know where to post it, so I will add it here.
I've heard Wuthering Heights is in her current line-up. Did anyone hear her perform it before she became ill & had to cancel shows? If so, I would love to hear how it was.
I remember there was quite a debate here not too long ago over whether she could still sing this song. I couldn't understand the technical aspects of it (the extent of my music knowledge is, "Wow, Hayley has a gorgeous voice!"), but I really hated taking someone else's word that she couldn't do something.

Hi Cherany,
Yes, I heard her sing 'Wuthering Heights' twice before the tour was abandoned (in Barrow and Newcastle). I felt she sang it just as well then as she did back in 2004. The only noticeable difference was the lack of drums and WH is, perhaps, the only song in her repertoire which really needs them. Other than that, it was fine and I hope she continues to sing it at some future events because it shows her versatility so well, especially to those who know her, primarily, as a classical artist.

Hi Cherany,
Yes, I most certainly heard her sing WH, both at Stoke (the concert immediately before the start of the ROD tour) and at Northampton Derngate on the tour.
For me the Northampton performance of WH was the more memorable despite the fact that we know that Hayley was at the time fighting her chest infection. But it seemed this only served to increase her determination to make sure she put on a good show.
Speaking as someone who was never a fan of that particular song, I was blown away by that performance, which was the finale, ie the last song before the encore. She really put a lot into that performance, you could tell, and it was fabulous. It was in my opinion, although it was a long time ago, much better than when I heard her sing it on the Pure tour over 4 years ago.
I think there has been a bit of kidology going on. It has been apparent for a year or two that Hayley has been economising on the high notes that she used to sing when she was 15, and had assumed she could not longer reach them. Bur perhaps she was just protecting her voice, and CAN still reach those notes. Or at least, she hasn't lost as much range as we suspected.
Martin
As far as songs she .
