Hi Dave and Dean, It took me a while but I am now beginning to grasp what you are saying. So, as it is exactly one month until the 25th December... Happy Easter! Roger

My only hope would be if the Barbican concert needs to be cancelled that it is postponed till next Christmas rather than fill up her schedule in early 2009 Hi Colin I doubt that a Christmas Concert would be postponed until early 2009! Martin Hi Martin and everyone Doh! I should have thought of that! But I hope you know what I meant. Kind regards Colin

Well, like the rest of you here, I don't want the Barbican concert, for which I have tickets and am looking forward to immensely, to take place if there is any possibility that it will take a toll on Hayley's health. But having an asthmatic wife who is sensitive to them, I have learned a bit about chest infections, and know that English winter weather does not help. I know that any such infection that lasts more than a fortnight is something like acute bronchitis, that, if not taken care of properly can turn truly nasty, the P-word comes to mind. I am sure Hayley will be receiving proper medical care, and the prescribing of antibiotics is a sign that her doctors are taking it seriously. I was simply speculating that a change to a summer climate might be beneficial. She would have to be really seriously ill if the rigours of the flight back would be an issue. What motivates me to write this, Roger, is not a wish to pry into Hayley's private life, but a concern for her welfare, and I'm sure that that is also what motivates the other posters here. If there is any possibility at all that anything I might write could help her in any way, I feel that I must write it. Going back to NZ early is an option that Hayley has, and if her doctors agree that it would help then she needs to know that those of us who hold tickets for her remaining concerts this year will understand and support her decision. The Barbican in particular would not work at another time of year, and cancelling it would be a shame, but I'd rather that happened than take risks with Hayley's health, or even result in less than the optimum way to help her recovery.
For me, I just want to see her over this, and back to full health.

It is not for any HWI member to offer prognosis nor diagnosis particularly when we do NOT know what Hayley's exact condition is currently. Suffice to say that it isn't just a common cold and we should leave it at that. Whatever is best for Hayley will be decided by herself, doctor and close advisers. We all all concerned with Hayley's welfare and as Roger has already posted this should not go any further than our support and best wishes for a speedy recovery. I know your intentions are sincere but there is a fine line here between offering such support and becoming over concerned with Hayley's situation and I'm afraid you are crossing it. Best wishes Martin

Bedlam Management have confirmed the rescheduled dates for all nine events. I need to check the details as best I can (with those on the official site, for example) before posting them but I will start a new thread for each of the before the day is over. These events will still be collectively called the River of Dreams tour... even though they span six months!

It's good that all concerts have been rescheduled except of course that the original intention of them (to provide impetus to the album sales) will by then be lost.

Hi Jeff, At least in terms of immediate effect, this is really more Decca's problem than Hayley's. I am not certain what the actual impacts of cancelling and rescheduling are on Hayley's overhead, but given that she stands to make about as much money either way. Dave might help with this, but I am not certain that the cancellations really will have that much effect on the albums sales either - perhaps a 10 percent loss? The album has fallen off the pop charts already - short of some kind of additional promotion, the album wasnt going to sell that much more than it already has anyway. Jon

RoD is currently no. 90 in the pop album chart so that's still a few thousand sales to add (at this time of year). And no, I wouldn't have thought the cancelled tour dates would affect its sales much, I bet most of the people who would have been in the audience will have it by now anyway. I still think its biggest problem sales-wise is a too-early release date. Your initial sales prediction is going to be right. Dave
