Hi Milewalker!
Thanks for the sad news about Simon. Like many of you I've never met him. I just send him a few e-mails last year about placing my pics from Toast NZ in a gallery on HWI. He is a nice guy and very enthusiastic about Hayley and this site. Let's hope the best for him!

Hi everyone,
About an hour ago, I was delighted to receive a short phone call from Simon. His voice was husky and he sounded rather breathless and very weak but he was in relatively good spirits and clearly retains his sense of humour.
He asked me to thank those of you who have sent him messages and apologises for not reponding but he doesn't feel up to it at the moment. He is, nevertheless, extremely grateful.
He has a few close friends and relatives who are seeing him as often as possible but he is particularly keen to hear from other friends by email. He has received many but would welcome more. If any member of this forum would care to put a few words together but doesn't know his email address, please PM me and I will tell you.
Thanks, Roger

Thank you Roger for the latest information about Simon. I spoke to him on several occassions last year and, at your suggestion have just sent him an Email with my best wishes.
Times of serious illness can be very lonely so I will add to Roger's message and say this;
"Please think about Simon. It's partly through him that we are all here. We're all bound together by Hayley so even if you don't 'know' him, we're all his friends."
Best wishes Grant

Hello everyone.
As I mentioned previously, I Emailed Simon yesterday and was delighted this morning to find I had received a reply, yet saddened by it's contents.
Simon's condition is very serious and one that he is unlikely to recover from. He is home at the moment and appreciates very much that we are thinking of him. It would please him greatly to hear from others on this Forum.
I admit that I did find it difficult to know what to write but I did and his response left me in no doubt that hearing from us will help get him through these very difficult times.
If you would like to contact Simon, but don't have his Email address, please PM Roger or I for details.
Many thanks and God Bless Grant

Thanks Jon.
After your post I looked at Simon's blog. What he wrote there is largely contained in the Email he sent me. It is very humbling that such a simple act of kindness can seem to mean so much.
Please keep us informed of Simon's progress and let us know if there is anything further that we can do.
In the meantime, I added Simon to our prayer list in church this morning.
Best wishes Grant

I am deeply saddened to hear that Simon has passed away. In many ways, Simon has been an inspiration for me.
God bless all you who are involved with continuing the tradition he - together with Keith - started.
Especially you, Roger and Dave, in taking over.
May you, Simon, rest in peace. God bless you.

Sad news, everyone. I have just been informed by a close friend that Simon Smalley, veteran, co-founder of this site and long-time supporter of Hayley, Holly and other artists, died this morning at about 10:15 AM.
By posting this I am probably usurping a role I should not, but I think everyone should know this. I came to know Simon in connection with another artist, but continued to interact him as one of Hayley's biggest web supporters, together with Keith, God rest his soul.
As someone who still misses Keith, this comes as a very hard blow indeed, knowing that both men who started this site are gone, and gone before we would have liked to see them go. My heart goes out to Simon's wife Shirley, his son, and any other relatives out there that I may not know about. The one and only good thing I can say is that at least he has passed beyond the pain he was suffering, which I understand was difficult to bear.
May the good Lord forgive him his sins and grant him eternal rest, in that Light that shines not from sun nor moon, and may he come at last into the Presence of the Savior in whom I know he fervently believed.
Rest in peace, Simon, though I hope to see you again "when the roll is called up yonder."
