I was just thinking about Hayley's duet with Ronan Keating on Winter Magic. / Ronan's NZ album Stay. I was wondering if we may have overlooked how significant it is. I believe this is the first time that Hayley has done a collaboration with a pop singer? All her other duets have been with Classical Crossover stars, haven't they?
Ronan is also a very big star and it's interesting that he would choose a Classical Crossover singer like Hayley to duet with. He also chose her to join him on stage at his charity ball --- the only other duet he did was with Gary Barlow!
Perhaps this is an indication that Hayley is gearing up to make an entry into the pop scene with her next album? Considering how most of Hayley's original songs are very poppy in style, it definitely seems like a possibility.

Hi Jillian,
Wouldn't her duet with Lee Mead be considered a duet with a pop singer? Yes, he was originally musical theatre, but his second album (on which she appears) is estranged from that.
I wouldn't be too surprised if her next album was much poppier than her others. I expect it will probably be a lot like Winter Magic in arrangements and song selection (ie some well known, some not, some classical, some written by herself).

Hello everybody! We now know that Hayley will be recording a new album in 2010, so I've locked this thread to avoid any further confusion. See this thread for more information as it becomes available. Richard
