I downloaded the latest version of Winamp and could make it work.
It sounds superb and I also think it is Hayley at the very beginning, quickly followed by Katherine.
I still haven't ordered the CD as I hope to get it in a store the day of its release. I also look forward to seeing the video clip!

X-Phonics, an independent music and media group, have been commissioned to produce video programmes in support of the ITV Rugby World Cup theme, “World in Union” incorporating artists such as Katherine Jenkins, Andrea Boccelli and Hayley Westenra.

Artists such as Katherine Jenkins, Lesley Garrett and G4's Jonathan Ansell joined together at Air Lyndhurst and RAK studio 3 over two days to perform the official Rugby World Cup Anthem 'World in Union'. X-Phonics productions Dave Palmer was there directing the video shoot which X-phonics will eventually edit down to form part of the official rugby world cup single.

Classical artists representing all the competing nations have taken part in the recording of the song which will be used as the intro for the worldwide TV coverage. The footage, recorded by x-phonics will form part of the accompanying video which goes on worldwide release during the sporting spectacle to be held in France during September.

I emailed the Director of X-phonics to ask if we could get some pictures of Hayley recording 'World in Union'.
His answer was the following:

Hi Stephany

I should be ok to release a few pictures to you after the event,
however will check with Universal Music who are very protective of their artists and as I do a lot of work for them and wouldn't want to ruin our relationship by releasing the photos prior to the rugby world cup or without their permission.

Please feel free to contact me after the event and I will organise
the photos you are looking for. I hope you understand the situation regarding this and apologies I cannot release the photos to you right now.

Yes we did, that was an amazing experience we actually recorded it with Andrea Bocelli, Hayley Westenra and Katherine Jenkins and it was just an amazing experience especially Andrea Bocelli who we have just been a big fan of for a long long time. And we are going to performing in France, performing the song very, very soon.

If they're all coming to France for this, wow - I'll definitely try to be there!

I'll guess that it will be the vocalise version of 'Pokarekare Ana', because that's how Hayley always sings it in her concerts. Of course I may be wrong!

Hi Stephany,

I've just zoomed through my recording at 12x speed to see what they showed and played. Sadly, the first half hour of the show was taken up by studio chat and they ignored the opening ceremonies that were going on at the same time.

All they showed apart from the match itself were the two National Anthems, prerecorded of course by a French band and choir.

Thanks Dave! There was an advert saying that this video would be broadcast before each Rugby match but I guess it wasn't true. Unless their video is not ready yet! Oh well, thanks again

Hi Stephany,

I've just checked and I think I know now what you are referring to. There was a one minute excerpt from The World In Union video (showing players and gymnasts not singers) shown at the very start of the programme so I think that will be played at the start of every match.

However, I could not really discern individual voices among the female singers and of course, I was listening for Hayley. It is very much less clear than the 45 second audio clip mentioned earlier in this thread - quite "muddy" in comparison. I will keep the recording for a few days in case anyone thinks they can hear Hayley when they see it on TV and if so, I shall digitise and upload it. Or do we want it anyway?

Thanks for the update. I just re-read again the promotional blurb for this album:

‘World in Union’ includes the Official Single of the Rugby World Cup 2007 - a new version of the song ‘World in Union’, with classical crossover stars from all the key nations taking a line each, this track will be ITV’s official television theme through out the Rugby World Cup.

There's no mention of a video. They did record a video clip with all the artists though, so I wonder where we're supposed to see it.
