Good news for all you Kiwis - the next (after this one) Rugby World Cup Final takes place in Auckland (Eden Park) on 22nd (or 23rd) October 2011.
Is this time for an HWI outing?

Hi all, I know it is not be the best source but Female.co.uk posted an article about Ryandan and confirms that they recorded a song for the RWC 2007.
Hopefully it will be officially confirmed very soon. Especially if you guys can ask Mr Abbott or Hayley in Woburn If you have this opportunity, please ask them if she's coming to Paris to do a video clip Best wishes, Stephany

Hi All,
I am just wondering - is it certain that Hayley will perform God Defend New Zealand on this album? The scan posted by Stephany says that this singers will perform anthems from their home countries. It does not say that they will perform their national anthems.
Of course, it doesn't say the opposite either - I think that no conclusion can be drawn either way as to the inclusion or not of national anthems...

Hi Gerrit, As you say, it is not certain that the CD will include Hayley's 'God Defend New Zealand'. She will be featured on the theme song 'World in Union' but as the double CD will include each National Anthem, it is very likely that Hayley will be singing New Zealand's. Having said that, you're absolutely right, we'll see! Stephany

Thanks for the info, Richard! Interesting - I thought she would sing 'God Defend New Zealand' instead. I would be curious to know if it's a new recording of 'Pokarekare Ana' I see that Will Martin is also singing 'Hine E hine' for New Zealand! Stephany

Hi all, Just a quick word of caution, there are in fact two different albums for the Rugby World Cup. According to Fnac (France's biggest music store!), the one with Hayley Westenra is a double CD - see tracklisting posted by Richard above for more details - and is released on September 3, 2007. The other CD is released on September 10, 2007 and contains all National Anthems. At the moment, it is unknown whether Hayley is singing on it or not. There can be some confusion because both albums are generally titled 'The album for the Rugby World Cup'. Stephany

Just to add to the confusion, there is also an album released on September 3, 2007 called 'All Blacks - the music'. Apparently Hayley isn't featured on it...a pity because she really deserved it! See NZ Musician Magazine to read the article or see below. Stephany

Hi everyone, Last month, there was a short article in the French newspaper 'Le Parisien' about tenor Roberto Alagna recording his vocals for the Rugby World Cup official song. I'll post the link to the original page HERE and the translation below. Stephany

The album tracklist posted above by Richard was recently included in a UCJ newsletter with a link to a 45 seconds snippet of the song 'World Union' sang by Katherine Jenkins, Ryandan, Roberto Alagna, Andrea Boccelli, Hayley Westenra and a few other singers. It won't play on my computer so I don't know if the audio clip includes Hayley Best wishes, Stephany

Mmm, I thought I would know Hayley's voice anywhere but I have to admit I'm not sure. I believe it is her that we hear right at the beginning of the clip but, after half a line or so, it starts to sound more like Katherine. We then hear what sounds like a male voice choir but may be just two or three of the named performers. I am rarely impressed with a 45-second clip but this one is exceptional. For me, it sounds absolutely magnificent.

I agree Roger, it does sound like a very rousing song. As you say, much of the middle of the clip is all male voices but to me, Hayley is unmistakable at the beginning and towards the end. Not to be too pedantic by the way, but it is a 55 second clip Best wishes Grant

No wonder I enjoyed it more than a 45-second clip! Roger
