Hi Drew, Yes, you have missed one actually. I have the 'Wiegenlied' single on which she sings three versions of the song. One of them is in Japanese! Roger Hi Roger and Drew,
One more we have missed is Welsh! can anybody think of any more?
Best Wishes
Steve

Hi Peter.
Just got round to reading your Gawsworth Hall review in full (I'm still on dial up at the moment so had to copy to my hard drive to enjoy it properly)
What a masterpiece! - I envy your ability to wax lyrical so easily. No doubt the Shakespeare in you!
And that photo - what a stunner!! Also interesting in that it confirmed my thinking that Hayley had slipped out of her seatbelt to be a little closer to our group.
Just another 'little' thing that makes the girl we all hold so close to our hearts and love so dearly, that little bit more special than anyone else.
God bless you!
Grant

Somebody hide this before Thomas sees it. Sorry Drew, too late. And thank you Raymond for finding the translation. I was already taking a look at the German lyrics a few weeks ago. It is a quite old fashioned way of expression. But the lyrics are old so it's o.k. I will read both lyrics again the German and the English before Cadogan Hall to have the right preparation. I've never heard Hayley sing "Wiegenlied" live and it would be a nice opportunity in September. By the way Hayley speaks German very well. During the Il Divo tour in May she chatted German with the audience between her songs which everybody appreciated. Sorry for being off topic! Thomas

Grant Yes, Grant, a point I had not drawn attention to but as you had I can confirm she did it up again as soon as she started moving off. I think, in fact, she had slipped out of it in order to turn back to Ian and Fiona to make sure they were part of the whole and were involved. It was at the point we told her the whole thing was superb and she turned back and said to them, 'Did you hear that guys, that means you!' Peter

Hi Thomas.
I suppose 'Wiegenlied' does take us off topic BUT to keep on line, language comes up in your comment about sometimes needing a dictionary when reading my report on Macclesfield and I am sorry the significance had not dawned on me--which actually is a compliment to you.
I sometimes receive cryptic sardonic comments that English people need a dictionary when reading me and it simply had not dawned on me that for you it is a second language. That is how good your English is!!!!!
Having brought us back on topic re: Macclesfield, an under the counter observation: I have always loved Wiegenlied and told Hayley how disappointed I was that it had been dropped from the revised version of Odyssey.
I'm also glad you reiterate how good her German is. I always feel she presents German so deliciously softly which is an unusual hearing for nonGerman speakers. if it appeals to the German speakers, then she should be encouraged to sing in German more often.
Peter

Hi Peter, To hear Hayley sing German is always a pleasure. It sounds so sweet when she's doing that. A few more songs would be a good idea. If she did I would translate the lyrics for you. No problem. Don't worry about me writing that I needed a dictionary for parts of your Macclesfield review. Keep on writing like this!!! There is actually a good online dictionary at www.dict.ccThere you can find a lot. So, no problem again. Thomas

Thank you Thomas for the link to an English German Dictionary. Most interesting. Behind me I have Collins English-German and a Harraps French-English BUT I am NOT a linguist.
I put this down to: 1. Inability to sing, although mercifully I can appreciate those who can, so my pronunciation is not good. 2. Lack of the opportunity to practice and I find linguistic stylised CDs boring.
It is a while since I visited Germany, but when in France I do make the effort. Usually they appreciate the intent of the effort but find the murdering of their language so insufferable they prefer to use English--which is what we English do tend to get away with an awful lot--particularly if we shout loud enough... in English!
Once I've refreshed my vocabulary, I'm not so bad on reading, it is just oral communication that foxes me. Peter

That's good trick! :je I have to remember it if I visit France the next time. My knowledge of Frensh is almost not existing anymore. With a little practise I'm able to buy tickets for the Metro or some food but that's it. Rien ne va plus! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThomas
