Concert time in half an hour! Wish I was there... From the rainfall radar and a report from nearby Woodford 10 minutes ago, a fairly narrow band of light to moderate rain is about to arrive at Gawsworth.... Grrr! Lucky for the majority in the covered stands but not so good for those on the open grass. Unlike last year's Manchester Prom in the Park, it won't be heavy rain. Temperature is 21 deg C, 70 F, and fairly light winds (10 mph) so it could have been be worse. Dave Hi Dave, I wish I was there too- I don't mind being soaked in the rain once in a while (providing one is not wearing one's best chalk line suit! )... so that wouldn't worry me at all (being Scottish! ) A good shower of rain can actually feel quite reviving! I can't wait to hear all about the concert from George and Peter later... Regards, Andrew

Peter will no doubt manage to produce a highly detailed account in his concert report none the less! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI hope George manages to bring back a few good photos too! Hi ! I hope you all have a nice concert at Macclesfield. This concert was one of my favorites when I heard about it a few months ago. I was thinking about going there too but unfortuneately I don't have time this weekend. So I decided to go to "Toast NZ" in July instead which was a very good idea actually as you could see at my avatar. Alas I can't fly to England for each of her concerts although I would like to. Hi Thomas,
Hopefully you will be able to spend some time in the UK when Hayley is touring and go to several concerts. That will make your journey more worthwhile.
I look forward to seeing you at Cadogan Hall.
Roger

What a great night!
Managed to meet up with the others from HWI during the afternoon and waited for Hayley to arrive.
As they drove up the drive we could just make out a beaming Hayley in the front seat, waving with both hand and seeming delighted to see our small welcoming committee. "Hi's" were exchanged as they passed.
The atmousphere at the concert was amazing. A sellout crowd loved hayley and her team (Ian and Fiona) and it was obvious too that they were enjoying themselves. Hayley seemed more chatty than usual which went down well, and Fiona kicked off her shoes for both her solo pieces!
As darkness fell, the scene turned into one of pure magic with the stage taking on the appearance of a Christmas crib and strings of orange lights twinklin in the surrounding trees and shrubs. It took ones mind off the showery evening, though it stayed mild until quite late.
Couldn't get close at the end "They're going straight back to London" we are told, so we waited where we expected the car to appear and were not disappointed as they stopped by our small group and chatted for about five minutes. That made the evening for me.
Apparently, Hayley is going home at the end of August, but now only for a week and a half because "something big has come up" (Hayley's words, not mine) She wouldn't elaborate but said she would tell us when she could, so keep your eyes and ears open guys and gals!!
Peter has promised to do a full review of the concert after he returns from his travels mid week.
Best Wishes Grant

Hi Grant,
Many thanks for your report. And so we have another mystery. "Something big" coming up is very exciting for us all but I am sure we will hear about it in the fullness of time.
The setting for the concert sounds wonderful. I hope we get to see some photographs in due course.
Best wishes, Roger

Perhaps Andrew Lloyd-Webber has made her an offer that she can't refuse after seeing the motley crew that his team selected for television!

Hi ,Grant, Peter,George , Not sure who else went Sounds like it was a great night yes i hope plenty of pics were taken and i look forward to Peters review. I'm saddened to hear Hayley again has altered her trip home. It must be some thing very special . Hopefully it does not involve night after night of performances, and is just a one time thing, We have a TV commercial over here re Batteries that reminds me of Hayley every time i see it , A little rabbit toy has Eveready batteries in it and the rest have other brands the rabbit with the Eveready batteries lasts and lasts when the others stop. Hayley seems unstoppable, i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifPlease Take Care Hayley i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBelinda

Hi Grant, Glad you had a great time and that you got to have a few words with Hayley after the show, this sounds like something special to delay the Holiday a little, we shall all watch with baited breath! Hello Grant, and thanks for your report! It sounds as though it was another great night with Hayley, and I'm pleased you managed to meet her afterwards. I'm very intrigued as to exactly what has made her change her holiday plans yet again, but she always seems to give work priority over leisure. Personally I've never done that, as my early retirement at the age of 53 shows, but Hayley is clearly enjoying her career at the moment. It sounds as though something very exciting has come up, and I'm sure we'll find out in due course! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Another superb concert! Just arrived home after stopping overnight in Macclesfield. Five of us arrived at Gawsworth Hall about 1 pm after hearing rumours that it would be a free for all to reserve the seats at 2 pm! I was there with Denise. my brother Chris, his wife Tracey and for the first time my sons girlfriend Wendy. People arrived with picnics, tables, ice boxes and Gazebos! The afternoon was spent eating, drinking and watching the numerous Gazebos being erected. It was fascinating to watch, also the extravagant food and drinks being set up at the tables. Chris and I kept on going for a wander, looking for Hayley. We asked at the gate about 5 pm and were told she had not arrived. Meanwhile we met with Peter and Grant, who we met for the first time even though Grant had been to a number of concerts before with us. We waited for Hayley and sure enough she drove in sitting in the front passenger seat, waving and smiling. A short while later we witnessed the sound check - The concert was wonderful. The format was similar to the church and cathedral concerts last year with Fiona on violin and Ian on piano. Hayley sang - Pokakare Ana, The Water Is Wide Ave Maria Prayer Scarborough Fair Amazing Grace Mummers Dance (The first time I had heard this live) Bridal Ballard Mists Of Islay May It Be In Trutina Hine E Hine Ave Maria (Encore) Hayley was wonderful, noticeably much more relaxed and chatty. Fiona got a fantastic reception after each of her four pieces. After the show we waited around and managed to catch Hayley for a few minutes as they drove away from the Hall. We had been told that they had many requests from the audience to meet with her but it was necessary that she got away early on this occasion. They were to drive back to London that evening. Grant has already mentioned the mystery of of shortened holiday back to NZ. We all wonder what is in the pipeline?? Sorry the photos are not fantastic. Darkness and distance from the stage did not help matters. Hope it gives a flavour of the night. Stuart and Steve where were you?? Regards George

Hey, thanks very much George. Your coverage is superb and we now know the list of songs, and have a good description of the place and the atmosphere, all accompanied by five perfectly good pictures. I like the red dress. No, not yours George - Hayley's! Roger

Hi George and Denise, Sorry we were not able to make the concert in Macclesfield, Stuart and his family were staying with me in Suffolk for the weekend. Also we did not want to overload Simon, as he still has the Newmarket pictures to add to the main site from last month. We will both be at Cadogan and Canterbury, and hopefully some of the Christmas concerts. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifGlad you had a great time, your pictures look fine to me! I love Hayley's dress she had on for the sound checks. Best Wishes to you both, Steve H
