Hayleywestenra.de have updated their site with some news regarding Hayleys appearance last night:- (Excuse the bad English as I used an online translator from German) Hayley Westenra fan team with the stadium appearance of Hayley in Duisburg On 14 July 2005 Hayley sang for the opening of the World Games 2005 in the MSV arena in Duisburg. The Hayley Westenra fan team participated natural, in order to be jubilant with their two appearances. With Hayleys Eroeffnungssong "Pokarekare Ana" entrollten the listeners a welcome greeting in the stadium. Naturally Hayley took itself also the time their fans personally to meet to fulfill autograph desires and over its next projects too plaudern. In the next week their photos and a video here to the World Games 2005 to regard will be able! Also there are 2 pictures posted:-   Hey Guys is that Lothar in the first picture. 2nd on the left? Hi Dave, Yes it is Lothar, I just checked the guestbook over at the offical German site and he has left a message there. He said that Universal organised the whole event with the banner and t-shirts. He gives details of the two tracks during her perfomances. Also there was a meeting arranged for the fans with Hayley. And he mentioned that Gerald and Sophie were in attendance. How come this doesnt happen in the UK? Thats why we have HWI. No wonder we still havent heard from him, he is still on cloud nine after this event. Hope to hear from you soon. The T shirts is a good idea though, although I'm not sure about their choice of colour, and I wonder how many people will recognise the Kiwi image as a Kiwi? Hmmm... Hello Dave!  I recognised the image as a kiwi, but they are an endangered species so there aren't many about in real life. I'm not a fashion expert, and I don't have a Hayley Westenra International sweatshirt, but I think royal blue is a much nicer colour than orange. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard  |

Kia ora, dear Hayley-fans,
Some more information about meeting with Hayley and opening ceremony of „World Games“ in Duisburg:
I started my journey by train to Duisburg at 9 a.m. from Berlin and arrived at 1 p.m. in Duisburg. I took a lunch and went to the stadium (MSV Arena).
I was very early at the stadium, because I did not know when Hayley will arrive. My hope was to see her when she is coming to the stadium. My problem was that nobody knows if a special entrance exists for the artists or not and where is the stadium gate for them. There were 2 possibilities. So during the whole time before they opened the arena for the audience I walked from one gate to the other but Hayley was not to be seen at any point. Maybe she was inside the stadium to make some rehearsals already.
The date for the fan-team meeting was 5 p.m. So at this time I went inside the stadium, took place at my seat in the absolutely empty stadium. I was waiting for the other fans, but nobody was to see. Long time ago 2 young man came and we started our discussion about Hayley. Later 3 persons of UNIVERSAL came and we ware happy to get our T-shirts (please have a look at http://www.hayleywestenra.de) . But where was Hayley. Our date with her was scheduled for 5.15 p.m., but the time was over. Some minutes later we got a mobile phone call that the meeting will be at 7 p.m. at an other place in the stadium, because Hayley has not to tale so a long way from her dressing room to our meeting place.
At 7 p.m. we went to the meeting place, wait some minutes – and then Hayley was coming, she was it really.
In a very short time it was a confusion. All fans would speak with her, asking for autographs, gave her some little gifts etc.
I did it also. I gave her a folder with some photos made at the last concerts at Hampton Court, Kenwood House and Pony Centre last weekend. I told her about our cooperation and teamwork to create this – and gave her your greetings too. I believe she was surprised and grateful for the photos of her last appearances, because Jill was not at Hampton Court and Pony Center to make photos of her sweetheart.
(Many thanks again for all of you, who sent me some pictures of the last concerts on last Wednesday. I combined these pictures with my own and made a PowerPoint-Presentation which I printed out for Hayley. I will send this file and a lot of pictures of “World Games” to Keith and he can take them to HWI. Keith please send me your private “snail” mail address with private e-mail. Many thanks in advance.)
Hayley was very relaxed and cool. Never before I saw her in such a liveliness before her appearance. Hayley came with her dad Gerald and with her sister Sophie. I think for Sophie this warm weather was fare to much. She was very calm and stands at a pillar in the shadow. I was talking with Gerald about next days. He told me that they will go back to UK on Friday. After this the whole family will take some holidays – and then they will go back home to NZ. I hope Hayley will use this time for real relaxing.
Last Wednesday I was calling the local TV-station of area around Duisburg. They sad Hayley will perform at 10.21 p.m. but she did it very early at ca. 8.23 p.m. – I was surprised.
At first she sang “Pokarekare Ana” of course, her visiting card. But it was a pity, the moderator at the stadium ground (Mrs. Ulla Kock am Brink) told the audience, not much about Hayley – a shame. On TV it was better: They sad that Hayley was at first well known in NZ only, but not she is a shooting star at high international level and she moves to first places in UK-classic charts.
One problem was that TV-moderators were speaking during Hayley was singing. This was not very friendly. An other problem was: During Hayley was singing some Aikido fighters come in the stadium. So they got applause during Hayley’s performance. So Hayley’s “Pokarekare Ana” was used as background music too. This was no good decision by direction management to do it in that way.
Short time before the end of the ceremony Hayley was singing together with José Cura and Benny Martell the legendary John Lennon-Song “Imagine”. For me this was the absolute highlight of this evening. It was an interesting arrangement to mix these 3 voices. Audience was enthusiastic about this song.
Finally there were some fireworks in the stadium. Nice to see. If do you want more information or something like that, please send an private e-mail to me.
Some words about german fanteam:
At the first time when I visited the german homepage of Hayley I register. So last autumn I’ve got contact with somebody of a business company which should support Hayley’s promotion in Germany. Now it changed and somebody of UNIVERSAL concern about this by their self. In this way I hope the german homepage will be renovated also. I believe, everybody who register at the homepage or sign in a list at Hayley’s concerts got information about Hayley´s performance at “World Games”. So some people (maybe 10) used the possibility to listen und met Hayley in Duisburg.
My idea is to develop this group of fans to a Hayley community, with close contact each other, like HWI. We will see what is happen next months.
At about 10.15 p.m. opening ceremony was over. After this one other Hayley fan and me we drunk some bear and took a long discussion about Hayley and a lot of other subjects. At about 3 a.m. next morning I went back to Berlin by train again.
So, that´s all from me about Hayley at World Games opening ceremony in Duisburg.

Thank you for a great report. As always, we have a very interesting story of the event to read.
It is a shame the way they always talk over these things in places such as a stadium. If they are going to have an artist perform at such things, the least they could do is have the courtesy to let the crowd listen to them properly.
Thanks to you, a lot of fans around the world who could not be there can at least read about the day. And it was great that you got the chance to meet with Hayley as a group from the German site. I think the fact that they got a group together to meet with her is a fantastic thing. Well done to hayleywestenra.de

Hi Everyone,
That would be fantastic to have been at the Games and to be part of the fangroup to meet Hayley,I wish Universal would do some thing like that in NZ but i know its the world market they are after and we are a long way from it. i'll support Hayley forever anyway.Lothar good idea re organising fans in Germany,I was thinking maybe i'll do that here in NZ.
I like the tee shirts with the kiwi emblem , Richard there are about 4 million live kiwis in Nz and around the world who would be proud to be called kiwis including Hayley and family.
The Kiwi I think is recognisable as a New Zealand. Symbol.
People here dont introduce them selves as being Nzers but as kiwis.
Yes the Hayley Westenra Sweatshirts are a nice colour,
So what about someone designing a nice Odyssey one,With the Uk summer better make it a T shirt.
