Marty played Malena this morning at about 8:20 with a mention that Hayley wrote it herself and also that the interviews with her are still available on the Lyric FM website.

A few days ago I posted this in another thread ; Congratulations you guys, your positive actions have encouraged me no end, Nothing succeeds like some success eh ? I have brought a few cds in to the RTE studios and left them for a well known presenter there with "POST-IT"s marking off particular tracks.. Let's see what happens eh ? What happened was this, last Thursday Marty really caught me on the hop, I was heading to a wedding in Dingle, County Kerry , one of the most Westerly parts of Ireland and therefore the European Continent, and Marty is making jokes about receiving a parcel from Japan and wondering what it could possibly be and who was sending him things from Japan (The cds I left in were in a cdJapan.co package) and about me having left in cds with a note on them and sending him e mails to take good care of the cds as they are from my own personal collection. He mentioned that the cds had also been signed by Hayley and there was very little chance of there being to many copies of them around. He mentioned they were albums he had never seen before and they were called Prayer and River of Dreams New Zealand Edition. I had also sent him a previous e mail telling him I was green with envy cause Paddy and Eugene and friends were going to Greece without me to see Hayley.... He read that one out at the same time.. And then he played ON AIR

So I am quite chuffed with myself over this one, tickled PINK even It really put a smile on my face while I was driving the 200 miles to Kerry....  The other song I have asked him to play is Majesty, I have had various discussions with other HWI members about this one, some are in favour of it being played and some are not.... Let's see which way the dice rolls eh ? |

:rollin Good job Paul!! Glad you're giddy with delight.  And "Sparkle" is one of my favorite songs by Hayley, so I'm glad it'll get played now, along with some others. My favourite place in the world and yearly holiday venue I hope the wedding was good x The wedding was great fun, parties over 2 days in Ballintaggart House There was a diversion in Dingle Town for the marathons, I had just gone down for milk and sugar, so I decided to go up over the Connor Pass. The cloud was down low and I saw some strange roadsigns telling me to go back, Huh ! That was just a challenge. I went up and over the top, The wind nearly turned the van over and as I went down the other side I began to realise what all them warning signs were about. The road is narrow and on a cliff face with only room for one car at a time in some places, the clouds were below me and I could not see the full extent of the drop. I had to move out to the very edge to get the roof of the van to clear the overhanging and protruding rock, I had the left hand mirrors pointing down to see the edge of the road and the right hand ones pointing up to see the overhanging rock.. Next time I will read and heed the roadsigns.. After 30 miles I got back to the house, Oh ####, I forgot the sugar and milk. |

Martin D Yes Funghi is still alive and well, possibly about thirty years old now, some of the wedding party went out in a boat to see him and he was there alright. |

Majesty on Marty Whelan's show 4th September 2012.
I feel slightly odd as I stand at the top of this mountain, I have been a long time climbing it,
Majesty has just been played for the first time on RTE Lyric FM at about 9:45.
Originally I thought this would be a simple project, Just e-mail a couple of presenters on Lyric FM and ask them to play Majesty, Not so.
I e-mailed several presenters, none of them ever played it, One presenter let me know it was not available to them on 'The server'.
I sent several E-mails to Universal Music in Dublin where I did have a very co operative contact (But unfortunately, she left them)
to have more of Hayley's songs put on this mysterious ''server''. Up to recently only three songs from Paradiso were on it.
The e-mails were generally ignored, I tried to contact Decca / Universal in London, I tried Dicon Stainer, I tried Bedlam and Bandanna without much sucess.
I asked that other members here on HWI would also send in e-mailed requests, To those who did, I thank you.
The more obstacles that appeared in the way, the more determined I became to overcome them. Stubborn as an ass am I.
I heard another nighttime presenter say that he would bring in a CD from his own collection one night in reply to a request from a listener.
So it dawned on me, it may be that simple, Huh !
I put Prayer and River of Dreams NZ in in a packet one day last week and headed up to one of the regular outside broadcast units I was aware of,
I had to get a suit for a wedding there anyway.
when I got to the door, There is only a coded entry system, No doorbell ! I waited a while outside, I knocked (Knock and it shall be opened to you)
I waited some more, I knocked some more, I even tried a few combinations on the most used buttons on the door release..
A couple of security people passed by and glanced my way '' STALKER ARRESTED'' crossed my mind for the briefest moment.
Suddenly a guy came to the door, opened it and said ''I thought I heard knocking somewhere''
I just said ''Parcel for Marty Whelan, He is expecting it, he is due to broadcast from here tomorrow morning''
''OK, Thanks, I'll leave it on the desk for him.''
The next morning as I was heading of to Dingle, Marty played There's a Sparkle in your Eyes. That made my day..
and today the 4th of September 2012 he played Majesty.
