Thanks Richard, most people here in Ireland would simply refer to it as Lyric or maybe Lyric FM but would seldom say RTE Lyric FM which is it's proper title. Mea Culpa on being careless naming the thread in the first place, I can now rest in peace as you might say in the UK on "Radio 1" but the BBC is implied or understood. Depending on the country you are in of course.

Congratulations Comet. I have sent a few emails requesting Hayley but I am afraid I don't get to listen to Marty. Enjoy your trip to the Northside

Congratulations Comet. I have sent a few emails requesting Hayley but I am afraid I don't get to listen to Marty. Enjoy your trip to the Northside Thanks Tiger, I have always wanted to spend time in Howth Last time I was there I was assaulted by a group of seals and I was in a very, very small inflatable dingy in the harbour at the time. maybe with the navy underside they thought it was their mammy. A week in the Canaries would have been nice, or six months with my current workload, or should I say lack of it. I wouldn't even be missed. Blue of the night is worth an occasional request as well.

Marty Whelan just played Once Upon A Time In The West from Paradiso by Hayley Westenra. He also mentioned the upcoming concert by Hayley Westenra in the National Concert Hall in Dublin on the 2nd May 2012. and I also suggested he might have a few words with Hayley on the air when she is over in Dublin.

Marty Whelan just played Once Upon A Time In The West from Paradiso by Hayley Westenra at about 8.25 this morning.
He also mentioned the upcoming concert by Hayley Westenra in the National Concert Hall in Dublin on the new date of the 14th June 2012
I get the feeling he wants to go to the concert, he said:
Try keeping me away !

Especially for Hayley's 25th birthday. Marty played Both sides now at about 8:46 with a mention of her concert in June. Just curious, Did one of our other members request this ? Answers on a postcard to the usual place

Marty played Malena at about 8:07 this morning.
He was very complimentary about Hayley and said he would be interviewing her a little closer to the date of the concert in the National Concert Hall on the 14th June 2012
Let's just hope her cds are in stock in the major record stores this time, unlike when Marty had Paradiso as his album of the week when it was launched and all the shops were out of stock.
Yes, I am having a go at Decca / Universal in Dublin. Their preparation for the launch of Paradiso here in Ireland was almost non existant.
Marty Whelan, Eamonn Lenihan and Liz Nolan and a few others on RTE Lyric FM and a few of Hayley's supporters did more than Decca did.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Good day for Hayley on Lyric FM today Saturday, with lots of people at home spring cleaning or pottering in their gardens. I was doing battle with 30 years of brambles, thorns and ivy I'd rather be cut by glass, sheet metal or power tools than thorns, nasty, malicious things they are. Have a look here for the Saturday 21st April playlistLorcan Murray featured Paradiso by Hayley Westenra for the whole afternoon show 4 to 7 pm., Not quite sure how many tracks he played but you can check the playlist a day or two after the broadcast. I will try and update this tomorrow. He also had a competition with copies of Paradiso as the prize. The question: what country does Hayley Westenra come from ? , lots of correct answers. The Irish know their Hayley Westenra trivia, they all knew it was Monaghan

That depends on your interpretation of "come from". and if she comes from somewhere, where is she going to. I suspect she might be in Denmark at the moment, and when she goes to somewhere else she will have "come from" Denmark!
Nah, she is from England innit!. That's where she is based these days. Although she used to be from Christchurch NZ, her main home hasn't been there for 10 years.
Nonetheless, I'm sure Lyric FM would accept New Zealand as the correct answer. A more precise question would be to ask in which country was she born. If that's the answer they want.

Wow, 4 plays in one day! That's great! Martin, the answer to the question alone tells me that the country she was born and raised in is most likely.
