Hi, Marty also recommends Paradiso on his webpage www.rte.ie/lyricfm/marty/ which is great news! Marty Recommends... Paradiso - Hayley Westenra... 'Paradiso' - a collaboration with master Italian composer Ennio Morricone. Well known for his iconic film scores including 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' and 'Once Upon a Time in the West', Morricone received an honorary Academy Award for his contribution to the art of film music in 2007 and is regarded as one of the most prolific and influential composers of his era. The album features new compositions written by Morricone for Hayley, as well as some of his best-known film compositions of the last 50 years. With Ennio making new bespoke arrangements for every track, he produced all of Hayley's vocal performances, as well as conducting each session with his own 120-piece orchestra - Sinfonietta di Roma. 'Paradiso' marks the first time ever Ennio has allowed -- and in Hayley's case encouraged - anyone to write new lyrics for his classic themes such as for Gabriel's Oboe (Whispers In A Dream), the theme from the 1986 film classic, 'The Mission'. Hayley has also written English lyrics to two more of the album's tracks: La Califfa and the album's final track, Malena. Oscar winning lyricist Don Black and Sir Tim Rice and Marilyn and Alan Bergman have all also contributed lyrics to this album.

Now playing on Lyric Fm
La Califfa
Thanks Marty
This is great exposure for Hayley here in Ireland, There are many presenters on Lyric FM who are already quite partial to music by Ennio Morricone, Paradiso gives them new options and variations of Morricone's music to play. Hardly a day goes by without them playing a Morricone piece.

with more praise and compliments for the album Paradiso Marty played Malena just before nine o'clock this morning, hopefully while people were still in their cars on the way to work. I can imagine people sitting in their cars, already a little late, but not wanting to switch of the radio until the song ends, The boss watching you out of the window, wondering at your casual attitude, "you arrive late, then you sit in your car as if you have all the time in the world" Have the tee shirt - but lost the job. Oh well..

They're playing a nice variety, aren't they? I bet this was a big help in getting Hayley to the top of the Irish Classical chart!

E mailed Marty this morning and within minutes World in Union was going out Nationwide on Lyric Fm.Now it may have had something to do with the fact that we beat the Wallabies the other day as well If I am the only one e mailing to have Hayley's songs played they are going to get fed up with me and stop playing the requests. A little help would be nice. Doesn't matter what country YOU are in, say you are listening online in (Your own City) and would like to have a song played for all your friends and family in Ireland, mention names and places if you can. Many of you seem to have the time to waffle on about the trivial and the unimportant, so a quick e mail won't eat into to much of your day. Lyric Fm Main PageScroll down the main page, There is a list of programmes and e-mail addresses. Marty Whelan and Liz Nolan are both very obliging, but any of the presenters are worth a try. Even once a week or once a month.
