There's just not much motivation these days. No reason to get excited anymore. As much as I like seeing that they're playing Hayley's music over there, that only helps her popularity in one country. Also, I don't listen to it, and wouldn't listen just to see if my request was being played. I can listen to the songs off my own CDs. And, as I've mentioned recently, I don't even do that so much anymore, because it's all gotten so depressing. There's little to no hope of new music, so half the time I feel like just giving up on it all. I've really about had it with the perpetual waiting. It's totally not funny anymore. I understand how you feel about this, the forums have been a major part of your life and our lives for the past eleven years or more and to go online each day and find nothing new has happened is both heartbreaking and disappointing, it leaves a gaping hole in what used to be your life. You are not alone in how you feel about Hayley's musical career. I don't send in requests so that I can hear Hayley's music, I send them in so that others who have never heard Hayley before may get a chance to hear her and connect with something new to them. None of us know what the reasons are behind the lack of output from Hayley, but I like to think we all want what is best for her. We are a most unusual generation, the first to be able to genuinely interact through the internet with the singers we like, I am not sure we quite know how to deal with it, either the singers or the fans.

I'm all for new fans and all that, and I do think that, if Hayley really is planning to release an album someday, it's also important to keep Hayley's name out there so if the day ever does come, people will still be somewhat familiar with her, and say, Oh yeah, I know who that is! And I actually really do still believe she has an album in the works somehow or the other; she's given us every reason to believe so, even if she hasn't posted much of anything in that regard (or of any regard, really) in quite some time. So, we know she's done it, and has new music hiding somewhere. We know she's not doing all this for nothing. Living away from both of her homes (NZ & London) surely isn't for naught. I'm sure the weather is much more pleasant for her than London, but if weather were the only thing, New Zealand would make more sense. And I like that she's in America, despite all the discouragement.
When you consider all these things, and all the other things she's showed us in the past couple years, there does seem to be hope.
And yet... I still feel discouraged. I don't think I'll ever truly be ready to give up on her, unless it continues for 10 years (I count from 2016), or if we see concrete evidence that she's done for good (we may never see concrete evidence of anything, if the last 3-4 years are of any indication). But the longer this continues, the harder it's going to be keep up hope.

I can't help thinking about what LA is famous for. So could Hayley be over there working on a film soundtack? Wild speculation I know, but she must as you say Libby, have a reason for being there.

Well, about 2 1/2 years ago, she was in Abbey Road studios singing with "14th Street studios", and Lorne Balfe thanked her... both of them are involved in film music. However, I have yet to find anything by that composer that includes Hayley or any other singer in an original song on any movie composition. And again, it's been 2 1/2 years since that post! And here we all got excited about her post, when she said "back where it all began". I still remember thinking that it (or something!) was about to start again. So much for that! And then, the year before that, her posting a pic of her and wrote "Making music for you". Well, we did get one song that's been released to youtube, but the rest were only performed to certain audiences. Yes, we've heard the one song (not saying it out "loud", in case the fantasy that Hayley reads this is actually true ), but it really depresses me when I realize everyone, except Taiwan and Ireland concert-goers, still aren't even supposed to have ever heard what it sounds like! I'm glad to have heard it, because it really feels like it's the only way we'll ever get to. I appreciated hearing it in the live setting, but I would also dearly love to hear it (along with the rest of the songs!) on a recording, as well. You know, so I can play it places other than my computer (phones have pathetic sound quality).

That thought had crossed my mind several times as I watched various actors and musicians being interviewed on Graham Norton's show and saying how they were contractually sworn to secrecy about films that were being made or still to be released. But it does seem to be taking a long time, whatever it is. and to stay on topic, I have sent an email or two into RTE lyric fm, but you don't always get immediate results, but the subconscious is a strange place, to plant the occasional seed may have results in the spring

I, however, am an optimist, and find much joy in listening to Hayley's music. These fifteen years have been magic and am looking forward to the next fifteen.

Sorry to read your words that you have not been listening very much to Hayley's music lately, and are thinking of giving up on her. I, however, am an optimist, and find much joy in listening to Hayley's music. These fifteen years have been magic and am looking forward to the next fifteen. I didn't say I was seriously thinking of giving up on her, I said "half the time I feel like giving up on "it all". I would say that was a slight exaggeration. Most of the time I feel nothing about her whatsoever, because there's not much to think about regarding her lately. But I will say that when there finally IS a new story or post, I get more excited to see what it is than I do with any other person I follow. Well... I have gotten pretty excited about some of Sarah Brightman's posts, especially the tour. But otherwise, Hayley's rare new posts get me the most excited. Even if I end up being not so excited after all, doesn't that seem to say that maybe I'm not actually ready to give up on her? Another reason I haven't listened to her as much is because it's been... well, 15 years! Meaning the newest song (on international CD) is quite old now! Not to mention the fact I didn't even like most of her last album! I've spent the last 5 years waiting and hoping for something a hundred times better to make up for it, and we still have nothing! Now, I know there's a certain reason in particular things changed in the last few years, and now that I know that, I understand that, but I can't understand giving it up forever because of it. Another reason, my musical tastes have matured in the last several years. I think Sarah's music appeals to me because the songs just have a more mature and "womanly" feeling than a lot of Hayley's songs. Maybe now that I've matured myself, I'm just more drawn to her style now than Hayley's style of old. Not that Hayley didn't have any mature songs, she had plenty of love songs, but her repertoire consists of a lot of songs young girls sing when they first start out in the classical genre. And, of course, Sarah's songs are newer to me than Hayley's are. However, I would dare to say Hayley's songwriting has probably gotten way more mature, and way better because of her unfortunate life events, from what little we have heard of the new songs. But, for all the good that's doing us! It's nice that we've had the opportunity to hear Greener Lands (and the other one we weren't really supposed to hear), but the fact that these wonderful new songs are continually being witheld from the world's ears is extremely disheartening and disappointing. So, I'm glad you're still happy about her career (if she still has one), but it's extremely difficult to get excited about Hayley's old music anymore, and I can hardly be faulted for it. I don't know whether Hayley still cares whether she has fans or not, but if she does, it would be much more beneficial for her to start communicating with us again than this current silent treatment. And releasing music. But at this point, I have a hard time believing she does care. All the comments I've gotten the past few years for wanting an album (such a terrible thing to want, I know, shame on me; as if I'm the only one who does) has only exacerbated this belief. I really think it's been ridiculous to have to put up with that criticism.

Don't get too excited, this mornings Marty in the Morning is live from the BBC in London, Marty has been to Abbey Road to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The White album by the Beatles. He has a little chat with Giles Martin about his current position with UMG. This is a three hour show and it goes off on other tangents, no mention of Hayley but Beatles fans might find it of interest. Marty in the Morning - BBC LondonAs usual click the link and wait, be patient it will load the programme itself.

Thanks for that Paul, I had a listen and it was very interesting. The interview took place at Abbey Road studios where Giles Martin seems to have a set of keys to the vault containing all the original Beatles master tapes. The Deluxe version of White Album 2018 mix has 107 tracks and lasts for 5h 25m ! And his two daughters have Irish passports! From my initial listening on Tidal Hifi streaming, he's done a very good job. Dave

Marty has a quiz or two every day on his show with prizes like cds or tickets to concerts, they are extremely popular, lots of people reply out of the forty thousand listeners, I enter them regularly even when I am working, sometimes by text and sometimes by email, I don't always hear the results during the show.
I Got a very pleasant surprise in the post this morning, 2 tickets to Josh Groban... Nice
