I wonder if they'll ever be able to play a new song. I'm just so bummed lately. We saw all these studio stuff going on, but now everything's just... empty. It makes you wonder what it was all for. I get that it takes a while to make albums, and other artists, like Chloe, for example, didn't have her own album for ages (she finally does, btw, at least on itunes). Chloe's excuse was that she tours basically all the time, so... never mind.
I give up.

Drifted awake this morning to the sound of Hayley in my ears singing Malena, it took me a few seconds to figure out it was my alarm radio and Marty Whelan came on after the song and asked what was she up to these days.

some people say there is no such thing as coincidence, I switched on my clock radio at about 9:43 this morning and there she was loud and clear Hayley Westenra singing Pokarekare Ana from the album Pure on Marty in the morning presented on this August bank holiday Monday by Mathieu Norry. Replay: Move slider in to 2:43Click on the link, wait have patience and it will load the three hour audio programme itself, you will hear the introduction to the programme, wait a little while longer and it will let you move the slider for the timer bar to 2:43. It always sounds so different on the small loudspeaker of the little Sony clock radio, the vocals so clean and crystal clear and I'm thinking "wow there are about forty thousand people listening to this at this moment" Thank you Mathieu RTÉ lyric fm RTÉ lyric fm reaches 278,000 Adults weekly and 130,000 Adults 15+ every weekday. Wonderful post, Paul! I think equally wonderful is the belief that an occasional listener tuned in and heard Hayley's voice for the first time!

Wonderful post, Paul! I think equally wonderful is the belief that an occasional listener tuned in and heard Hayley's voice for the first time! Thanks Joe, I suppose even one per cent would be a conservative estimate. Marty regularly gets requests for family's or friends traveling to school or work in their cars, often with other passengers who have converted to RTE Lyric FM to get away from the mundane drone of "current affairs" type radio programming.

The occasional polite e mail from other listeners in other countries would help. Tell them what country you are listening in, love the show etc. Would some of you guys pop in an E mail every so often. The further away from Ireland you are the better they seem to like it. Let's them let their "Boss" know they have listeners far and wide.
The e mail addresses are :
marty.lyricfm@rte.ie Marty in The Morning Monday to Friday 7:00 to 10 am.
scores.lyricfm@rte.ie George Hamilton Saturday and Sunday morning 10 am to 1 pm.
lorcan.lyricfm@rte.ie Lorcan Murrays Classic Drive Monday to Friday 4 pm to 7 pm
niall.lyricfm@rte.ie Niall Carroll's Classical Daytime Monday to Friday 10 am to 1 pm
thefullscore@rte.ie The Full Score with Liz Nolan Monday to Friday 1 pm to 4 pm
weekenddrive@rte.ie Evelyn Grant's Weekend Drive Saturday 4 to 7 pm and Sunday 4 to 6 pm. (Evelyn presented The Snowman in Cork with Hayley 2014)

There's just not much motivation these days. No reason to get excited anymore. As much as I like seeing that they're playing Hayley's music over there, that only helps her popularity in one country. Also, I don't listen to it, and wouldn't listen just to see if my request was being played. I can listen to the songs off my own CDs. And, as I've mentioned recently, I don't even do that so much anymore, because it's all gotten so depressing. There's little to no hope of new music, so half the time I feel like just giving up on it all. I've really about had it with the perpetual waiting. It's totally not funny anymore.
