Hello Juliette Many thanks for your report and pictures - that is a great little camera you have. I WILL get round to watching your videos but for now Christmas is getting in the way HaHa! It was lovely spending time with you in Cork and particularly the journey from England. Travelling is so much more pleasurable when it is shared. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year with your family and I hope to see you again soon. Lots of Love Grant

Hi Guys,
Here's a Christmas Present to you all. My video of Peace Shall Come from the saturday concert. Today is the right day for that song, the one day of the year it is relevant. So I saved it fro today.
It has also been "massaged" a bit by Dave at HWI Studios. He replaced the original sound from the camera with that from my separate portable sound recorder, and I think the result certainly sounds better than the original. So thanks Dave.
Anyway, here it is. And Happy Christmas everybody.

Thanks guys for all of the videos! Peace shall come was amazing. She should really have some backing singers for that song, so that they could do the other voices, when she sings Tonight, tonight....that'd be magical! Though, Silent night....whatever happened to her perfect 'phrasing' these days. I've learnt to accept her new 'style' for most of her other songs, but can't digest it for traditional songs like this which she usually excels in. Cutting short and whispering the final notes of every single line is not a good thing for whatever style she's after. Long notes have to be long, especially with songs like this. I hope she finds what she's looking for in her path of experimentation. Moving genres is great, but she should really be able to sing in both the techniques for songs that demand respective techniques. Especially after you've heard this www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4vXGEBGQp8 (Silent night), you can't settle for anything less. We can all agree to that. No, her voice is not diminishing, it's just something she's consciously doing, and anyone should be able to tell that it's not the best decision, atleast for songs like this.

It's true that there was not much you could call classical in those concerts. And these days, she seems to use her pop or an almost jazz voice for everything. I just enjoy it for what it is. I sometimes think, and I hope I'm not misrepresenting him, that Tim is a bit of a jazz fan, and that his direction and those jazzy piano arrangements that he does, and which I enjoy, are influencing Hayley's direction. I don't think there is anything wrong with innovating, with finding new ways to approach songs rather than just doing carbon copies of what everyone else does, and I applaud Hayley and Tim for doing it. That is probably not the way anyone else would sing "Silent Night", so what? There is no one else like Hayley, she does not just blindly copy others as so many do, and that is one of the things that makes her special. Hayley did in fact get a standing ovation at the end of that show - she must be doing something right.

OK, i think it is time I released this one. Sound balance and quality not great, but a fine performance by Hayley nonetheless.

Hayley did in fact get a standing ovation at the end of that show - she must be doing something right.Martin D Those statements I agree with in particular are in bold. I admit to having been critical to Hayley's technique in the past, including within the last few years. But, after having seen her live, heard how perfectly wonderful she sounds, with no amateur recordings to alter the sound quality, and being able to better watch her face and body movements while she performs... I would say that while she is performing, that she mostly does what comes naturally to her at the time. I'm not saying all her technique goes out the window; I mean, if you'd heard her in Madison, I'm pretty sure you would really have been blown away. But what I think is that the performance aspect of any artists' performance (singer, dancer, skater, etc.) is the most important; it's what draws the audience in, aside from her extraordinarily beautiful voice. Earlier in her career, it was just her extraordinarily beautiful voice that drew people. So yes, back in 2004, her voice was much higher, and more invariably flawless. But I personally think that lower notes have always given her a tiny bit of trouble, especially live, and she does sing lower notes (for her) more often than she used to. And she's gotten much, much better at them. However, if she has any trouble on notes at all, it's the lower notes. Or, actually these days, the extra high notes in some songs, are occasionally a bit strained. And remember, she was probably still fighting off a cold, probably had a sore throat, at that time. And if you've ever sung with a sore throat, then you know how uncomfortable and challenging that can be. I've never thought Hayley's Silent Night was jazzy; the way it starts out sounds almost like a lullaby, and I think that is excellent. My sister and I both say we prefer Hayley's Silent Night to Josh Groban's, because we prefer the softer, more simple way of singing it, as incredible as Josh sounds in his version. But, being Josh Groban, blowing people away with every song is kind of mandatory for him. That's just the way his voice is, and people just expect it. Of course the album was produced by David Foster. I even think that Josh has a voice like Celine's, as far as, there's almost no way for him to sing without sounding somewhat powerful. He just has a big voice. Hayley doesn't really, though it is more powerful than it used to be. The only time I've heard Celine sing very soft is when she's whispering, almost talking even, in the song Vole, Vole. Which I think is one of the most chill-inducing songs I've ever heard.

I'm trying to figure out what her necklace is. It looks like it might be an angel. Fitting for that time of year.

Hi, Have searched quite awhile for a clear picture of the necklace, but found nothing as clear as what Richard has put up. Can't make out whether that is the necklace that she is wearing in the picture of her with the 2 Cork officials on page 13 of the Cork, Ireland, thread. -*- It doesn't appear to me to be what she was wearing during the concert, but I have found nothing clear on that. In looking closely at Richard's magnified shot, I see what looks like a small animal face with 2 black eyes and 2 small ears, which has brought to mind that perhaps it is a Violet Darkling creation. I guess that we'll have to wait to see if we get a good clear closeup shot sometime. BobS Edit: -*- I now think that it is, and that one of the jewels is flashing brighter than the other from the way that it has been caught by the light. Also, I think that she did wear it during the concert, but has slipped a ring over it.
