Hi Joyce! You beat me by 2 minutes! I have moved my original post into your thread! Hi all, I just received an email alert from CD Japan advertising a new greatest hits album called ' Hayley Greatest Hits'. It is scheduled for release on 26 March 2014. No doubt to coincide with Hayley's tour of Japan. www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=UCCL-9079No cover as of yet, but it does come with this description: I wonder what the Prayer video will be... this one? But this was a Songs of Praise clip wasn't it? (Hence those really odd scenes of Hayley walking up and down an office hallway that I've never understood -- why not shoot the whole video in the beautiful church -- but never mind ha ha ). Is 'Hana wa Saku' the same as 'Hana' This is another song where there isn't already a 'video' as such. I wonder if videos to these songs have been gathering dust for years? I would imagine that the cover art will consist of some of the extra photos from the Hushabye shoot which haven't been used yet. I wonder if we will get some new songs? Usually a couple of newbies are put onto greatest hits to encourage sales to the fans who already have the other songs.

A bit of research has shown that HMV Japan is listing a new album for sale on 26 March 2014 called 'Prayer - The Best of Pure Voice'. www.hmv.co.jp/artist_%E3%83%98%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC_000000000224894/item_Prayer-the-Best-Of-Pure-Voice_5653046Billboard Japan has another album listed that translates as 'Amazing Grace - Hayley prayer Greatest Hits' www.billboard-japan.com/goods/detail/439591Those familiar with Hayley's Japan releases will know she's released: 'The Best of Hayley Westenra' 'Prayer' 'The Best of Pure Voice' and 'Crystal'. This title sounds like a 'mash up' of those previous compilations. Could actually be quite an interesting release, as Hayley has recorded a lot of tracks for Japan only. For interest, here are the track lists of those album: Some of these compilations are reasonably interesting (particularly the way they managed to make so many 'best of' albums with really only 3 albums!!) because they have different themes. For example, Crystal is quite classically bent. I wonder what they will do with the new one? Probably there will be some of the Paradiso songs and HSJS on there. I've tweeted Hayley to ask if there's any new tracks, so we'll see if I get a response. Probably not, as Hayley is fairly sneaky about these thing...

Actually no wait a sec.... Stop the press lol
I've been a bit quick to judge. I think Inori 〜a prayer is an entirely new song. Not 'Prayer' like I first thought.
This is probably going to be a brand new song to go with a brand new video.
I think that Hana Wa Saku is also a brand new song and a brand new video.
Now, now Jillian ... F minus in reading comprehension tonight!! ha ha ha
Hayley will sound amazing singing these songs. These are more classical sounding aren't they? Hana Wa Saku actually sounds like it was personally written for Hayley. I think those of us who are wanting a return to high notes and soaring voice will not be disappointed.
Consider my copy pre-ordered.

Yes, I got the email too. I think I'm going to have to get it, but I'd like to see the tracklist first. Thanks for finding those two songs Jillian, they sound like just the sort of stuff that sits Hayley's voice perfectly.

Hello Joyce and Jillian This is exciting news - I love Hayley's Japanese albums and have all of them, including promos LOL. I also seem to recall that the released titles often vary considerably from the initial translations. Maybe this will be "Best of Pure Voice 2" either way I WANT ONE!! Best wishes Grant

Just a general comment -- it's a pity Hayley doesn't do albums like this for the Taiwanese market, as I would probably get my much longed for recording of 'Flowers in the Rainy Night'. It's funny that Hayley does a heap more concerts in Taiwan than in Japan and yet there are still these Japan only 'Best of Hayley Sings Japanese Songs' and 'Prayer: Best of Pure Voice' being released. I suppose Universal Japan want something to promote along with the concert tour -- as the most recent release of Hushabye isn't really suited to promoting concerts. Yes, I got the email too. I think I'm going to have to get it, but I'd like to see the tracklist first. Thanks for finding those two songs Jillian, they sound like just the sort of stuff that sits Hayley's voice perfectly. Martin D Hi Martin D Yes, it will be interesting to see the tracklist. For Hushabye, I set myself up a Japanese Itunes account and just used that to purchase Bridge Over Troubled Water as I didn't want to buy the whole album. Although, there may be some packaging and DVD content that's worth having -- and best of all, not released elsewhere in the world. I'm actually quite intrigued to see what the track list will be like. I JUST got the email about this! I'm PUMPED!! YEAH! Can't wait to hear the new songs. Hopefully they will use actual instruments this time around. -Taylor Ha! I wonder if Hayley has already recorded the new tracks or if they will be done when she gets back to London. I'm sure that the production values for these songs will be infinitely better than the new songs on 'Best of Hayley Sings Japanese Songs' as these two new songs appear to be the lead tracks of the album. They might as well pack up and go home if they try to synthesise the instrumentals on the two lead tracks that they will be doing videos for! I seriously doubt Hayley would let them do that this time around. As a side note, it's a real shame they didn't bother to pay for musicians to do the instrumentals for those songs on The Best of HSJS, because they would have been absolutely spectacular with a complete backing -- rather than sounding a bit like demos. Best wishes Grant I know.... Some of the album titles are a bit crazy! Though I would prefer something a bit more original that '2' again! Hayley Sneaky, Jillian ! Evasive maybe, but sneaky ? I guess I'll have to sellotape the fragments of my credit card back together again Well, personally I always use the term 'sneaky' probably a lot more affectionately than perhaps the precise dictionary definition.

Lovely song (and singer)! Il Divo recorded an English version ( Flowers Will Bloom), in July 2013, in support of The Great Eastern Japan Earthquake Relief. www.ildivo.com/uk/news/il-divo-record-charity-song-great-eastern-japan-earthquake-reliefNHK produced the song “Hana wa Saku” (Flowers Will Bloom) to build public support for the 3.11 disaster recovery efforts. It is also the theme song of the TOMORROW series of TV documentaries produced by NHK’s Great East Japan Earthquake Project. The song’s composer, lyricist, and singers of the original Japanese recording all have strong ties to the region affected by the disaster. The lyrics are a message from those who lost their lives to the people they left behind. The song rose to the top of Japan’s music charts and has generated compassion for survivors from across the country and around the world. The English version of the song was produced for international viewers of NHK. All royalties for musical composition and lyrics are being donated to the recovery effort. www.nhk.or.jp/japan311/flowers/about.htmlPaddy

Lovely song (and singer)! Paddy I know! Maki Mori has that purity and clarity of voice which reminds me of Hayley's 'Pure' voice. If Hayley's verion sounds anything like Maki Mori's I will be most pleased.

Hi everyone
This does look interesting and worth getting I think for the new songs, however I would be hesitant to order from CD Japan after last time where I was charged so much by royal mail.

The songs will have to be really good for me to buy it. I haven't played anything from the last Best of compilation probably since it came out. I did enjoy the songs, but none stood out to me well enough to make me remember to get it out and play it again. Also, since Hayley hasn't had much of anything new in so long, at least not anything that gets me excited, I have to admit I don't listen to her nearly as much as I used to, simply because I'm ready for something new. That happens with other artists I like too. That's probably why the pop artists have to pump out albums so often, so people don't lose interest in them after a while.
I'm just ready for something to be able to listen to something new from Hayley, and one that's not a sugary sweet Japanese song.
Taylor, I actually got a notice in my e-mail about your posting in the HW official FB page (the old one), saying "new greatest hits album", and I was like "Oh no!!" I thought it was going to be another River of Dreams. I was ready to write Hayley's career off... LOL Thank goodness it's just Japan. You don't know how relieved I am!!

I do echo your sentiment about Hayley getting new stuff, as in NEW new stuff, out into the world. We need some that has Hayley basically written all over it. Perhaps in the songwriters credits? -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
